The European Commission has referred Ireland, Spain, France, and the Netherlands to the Court of Justice of the European Union for failing to fully transpose the NIS2 Directive into their national laws.

The NIS2 Directive is a sweeping EU-wide law designed to establish a high, uniform level of cybersecurity across all member states

EU Member States were required to adopt these measures by October 17, 2024.

Because they failed to do so, the European Commission has asked the Court to impose financial sanctions on them.

All 4 countries have draft laws actively written and waiting; they just haven't crossed the finish line to legally enact them (and will likely now rush to do so).
