@DanGreenhaus Of course his playing is derivative. But that doesn’t detract from the fact that he was indeed a great guitarist. On the flip side, the frequent observations that SRV was more precise and polished than Hendrix is worse blasphemy and nonsense.
Treasury bond buybacks are silly. Yields are ultimately anchored by Fed policy, rate expectations, and long-term inflation, not Treasury balance sheet games.
If the government wants lower yields, stop running $2 trillion deficits and disrupting energy supply chains.
Buying back bonds while running a $2 trillion deficit is like taking Ozempic and eating 4,000 calories a day....
@LPDonovan Not exactly a normal situation whereby his incumbent boss lost a primary election to an challenger that was endorsed by the president of his own political party.
“Everybody’s profiting.” -President Trump
Except the people who bought his coins...
Trump family crypto earnings: $1.4 billion

Perhaps the most blatant example of corruption in the history of American politics.
One of the worst things about Trump is that he’s ushering in more corporate welfare, cronyism, and socialism while parading it under the banner of capitalism, so we end up with all the failings of those ideologies but with a generation of young people blaming the market economy.
@JamesSurowiecki I think that’s true. But there were also counterparty agreements such as credit default swaps that totaled many times the notional value of the underlying mortgage-backed securities, and relatively limited transparency into the scope of the house of cards created by that.
Stupid, stupid bill.
Kids in northern states, particularly in places further east in their time zones, will be walking and waiting for the morning bus in the dark.
If changing your clock is so burdensome, fine. Go to year-round standard time.
This is exactly what happened in 1974 -- we have tried permanent daylight saving time before, and the House repealed it after a few months by a vote of 383-16 because it was widely hated. But some people refuse to learn history. https://t.co/nXYipOUf2X
@GerberKawasaki@PattyMurray Correct, it’s an “entitlement,” not a “tax.” It’s also not a savings plan, certainly not an individual savings plan. The trust fund is being depleted to pay current retirees and current workers are paying into that fund that will be depleted by the time some of them retire.
An entire chunk of the floor of the Reflecting Pool appears to have peeled away and broken off, with the edges continuing to flap in the water this evening.
Wait – they painted the pool floor, the water turned green with algae, so they poured a paint removing chemical into the pool to remove the algae, and managed to remove the new paint too? 🤯
OK c'mon. The entire progressive history project once revolved around demonstrating that the Revolution was about protecting the privileges of the wealthy American elite.
