@TheRebeccaRiots This is beautiful. Since my son (11) became an avid bird watcher the past 2 years, I have great love for all things bird. You’ve done such a lovely job. I like the choice of heather too!

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

@MikhailaFuller He’s precious! My youngest had that same hair as a baby. Love it! 🥰

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

@Pronatalism @ChHouseBooks I have a few of those books, but none so beautifully bound. May need to upgrade after seeing them!

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

Respectfully, many of us prefer standard time. I homeschool my young kids, wake early to rise before them to exercise and prepare for the day. When it is dark late, it hinders my ability to do that. Also- how does this benefit those who do manual labor such as construction, roofing, landscape, farming and more. They cannot work in the dark and desire to be done at a reasonable hour to spend time with their families. Standard time or no change.

Stay strong Senator!

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

I’m sad to say the conservative, classical, and homeschool community we are a part of has so many young men that show a lack of depth, character and spiritual maturity. While it seems simple, most if the young men our daughter knows won’t even hold the door open for her or her friends. These are kind-hearted, intelligent, lovely and beautiful young women who love the Lord. And this is the least of the concerns. I hate to say, but sending her to a different state to attend church/training school or college has crossed my mind a time or two.

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

@GuntherEagleman @SenTomCotton Nope- we do not want it in our family!

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

Agreed!

[Tom Cotton @SenTomCotton]

No one likes changing the clock, me included, but Congress has enacted permanent Daylight Savings Time multiple times before and repealed it each time once Americans experienced absurdly late sunrises in the winter. Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and I’ll always put Arkansas first.

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

@TomCottonAR We support your efforts. Let’s Save Standard time!

[Save Standard Time @SaveStandard]

Polling shows permanent Standard Time is most popular, not permanent Daylight Saving Time! History shows pST lasts decades when restored, pDST get repealed when tried!

[Save Standard Time @SaveStandard]

Trump is in the wrong on this. Cotton is in the right! Ditch DST. Restore permanent Standard Time!

[U.S. Department of the Interior @Interior]

Well, this is otterly unexpected.

A visitor captured video of a North American river otter swimming at Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve, marking the first time the species has ever been documented at the park.

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

@megbasham @TheBigBasham @WNGdotorg Together with my sons, we sing, pray then tune in for “The Big Bash” @ World Watch every morning. It’s definitely a highlight and the boys don’t to miss even a day now. They love the Friday bloopers too. Lol. Thanks for sharing him with us!

@MichelleDLesley Done!

[Kelly @flameandaroar]

@D_B_Harrison @virgilwalker For most of your episodes I need to listen at least twice to try to absorb all you share. One down, and one more to go. I can’t keep up with you guys! It’s been excellent btw and I’m thankful for the diligence, wisdom and insight you both bring to the table.

"Women having unsupervised access to one another" is one of the funniest sentences I've heard in a long time. It sounds like a Seinfeld line, honestly.

More seriously, the fear behind some of the "patriarchal" mindset is noteworthy. Guys, there's something better than fearing that your wife might go wild on you. It's trusting your godly wife in a God-centered and grace-driven way. Do you lead her and watch out for her as her "head" (Eph. 5:22)? Absolutely! You better do so. But do you distrust her, overburden her, and unwisely suffocate her? Not at all.

The Bible gives us the grace-driven way. It's right there in plain sight before all of us. The godly husband of Proverbs 31:11 is one who goes outside the home to provide and lead the city. Mark his "heart" attitude toward his wife while he's gone: "The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain."

Note the relationship here: he "trusts in her" and as a result enjoys great blessing from God. Some of what I see from "patriarchy" voices runs the opposite direction. Women are feared; women are untrusted; because of this, women live under a man who is domineering and frankly ungodly toward his wife. Such men are not Proverbs 31:11 men; they do not trust their Christian wife. They micro-manage her. They leave her little freedom, little room to breathe. She thus lives in some combination of anxiety, fear, anger, and repression.

This is part of why women in such environments will on occasion go off the reservation. It will shock people when they do, because to that moment she has been buttoned-down. She has painted by the numbers, and the family life has looked like a patriarchal fairy-tale. But behind the scenes, her husband has failed her. He has failed her not because he has led her, but because he has misled her. He has suffocated her. He has micro-managed her. He has not trusted her in a righteous way. He has lived in fear toward her, and not committed her to Christ, who is her Lord and master and king.

Has feminism had many bad effects on the church? Yes. Have some women been influenced at some level to not submit to their husbands and to see even godly authority in the home as bad? Yes. Is the rightful response to this to distrust our wives and leave them without "unsupervised access" to one another? Not at all.

Our churches have lots of freedom in living out Titus 2. But it is a good thing for women to get together, go on retreats, train one another for godliness and womanliness (per Titus 2), meet up together privately for coffee, have events, hear from godly mature women at conferences, read good books written by godly women, and lots more besides. Again, we have much gospel freedom in what all this can look like.

I have said it before, but there is a better paradigm than a fear-based one. Fear-based paradigms are almost always shame-based paradigms, which are the opposite of grace-based paradigms rooted in the gospel. Instead of living in fear, we can live in the gladness of the finished work of Christ. We can trust in a good God to work in our marriages and families. We need such work, in truth; we break things and get things wrong and need a whole lot of divine help to be godly men and women. This very much includes me!

My prayer here is that the church will reject fear-based thinking and embrace grace-based thinking. This is what is behind the Proverbs 31:11 husband; he trusts in his godly wife, and his life is not filled with sorrow and pain as a result. His life is filled with "gain," God-given gain.

So can ours be, brothers.

Wonderful news! Will continue to pray as you wait for other news. Along the same line- have you heard of the Galleri Cancer screening? Thoughts? Wondering if it’s an option or alternative to a colonoscopy as neither my husband or I have had one- although I’m in my late 40’s and he’s just a few years older. We are both considering a colonoscopy but I am a little hesitant.
