@MissKAllen89 @santersgrotto @MrTs_NQTs Hi Kate, hope you’re enjoying your summer break. The new curriculum plan sounds great. Let us know how it goes.
breakdown of individual skills and knowledge in his answer because he suddenly realised that he has so many more strengths and things he can do! You could see in his face that the barrier he had had about "I can't do English" had vanished in that moment. Absolutely amazing!
One of my favourite things about metacognitive marking and @flashcurriculum was shown in a comment from a Y11 student on Thurs. He looked at my marking and excitedly said, "Miss, look, I've got loads of WWWs and only 2 EBIs!" Just before his exam, he was thrilled at the 1/2
Does FLASH reduce marking workload for English teachers? Yes - but this is only one aspect of what it can do. Do you want to increase metacognition, develop proactive students and reduce in-school variation. Contact us for more information today.

FLASH reduces your marking workload by a structured approach to planning, modelling, self and peer assessment. This creates a common language of assessment in the classroom. This reduces reliance on teacher feedback and helps to plan future lessons.

@TeacherFFB@TeachMrN@MissKAllen89 @siancumming1 I agree that there is no single form of marking that will be suitable for everyone. But any new form of marking should in our opinion satisfy the following criteria. Reduce workload. Develop metacognition. Decrease student reliance on teachers. Inform future planning.
@MissKAllen89 @siancumming1 @TeacherFFB@flashcurriculum I thought exactly the same thing! We use FLASH for all KS3 and KS4 assessments and it’s revolutionized our marking.
@TeacherFFB@TeachMrN@MissKAllen89 @siancumming1 Marking with FLASH is only one part. FLASH stars with planning then skill specific modelling by the teacher. Practicing with self and peer assessment. Once this has occurred only then does the teacher ‘mark’ a students work. These steps develop a shared language of assessment
@TeacherFFB@TeachMrN@MissKAllen89 @siancumming1 Yes there are codes for marking but FLASH is more than just marking - it’s about developing the assessment capabilities of your students so they become proficient at self and peer assessment. There definitely isn’t a code that says MD, Each code targets a specific English skill
