“From childhood’s hour I have not been
As others were—I have not seen
As others saw—I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.”
-Edgar Allan Poe
Terfs opinions are not biology neither are they supported by science? They’re supported by fascism. They are supported by Nazi. Yes Hitler too. They are supported by ignorant celebrities like JK Rowling Roisin Murphy and John Cleese. Imagine being on the side of history as Hitler. Gender critical movement are destroying women’s rights bit by bits without realising it because of their opinions. They’re not just opinions though they are part of the fascist regime designed to eradicate human rights for all.
No matter how many biology books these people read they will never want to understand it.
But you can.
Biology textbooks do not say “sex is two boxes decided once at conception.” That is the simplified primary school version.
Advanced developmental biology describes a multi-stage process that begins from a shared embryonic template.
For the first several weeks in the womb, human embryos are anatomically indistinguishable in terms of sex characteristics. The early structures that will later become male or female reproductive organs are identical. Everyone develops nipples because those structures form before sex differentiation begins. That is why men have nipples. They are a remnant of our shared early developmental pathway.
Around 6–7 weeks of gestation, if an embryo carries a functional SRY gene on a Y chromosome, testes begin to develop. If that pathway is not activated, ovarian development proceeds. That is the first divergence. It is not the final outcome.
From there, hormones drive differentiation. Testosterone and its derivative dihydrotestosterone shape internal ducts and external genital structures during specific developmental windows. If those hormones are absent, mistimed, reduced, or not properly received due to receptor differences, development follows different pathways.
This is how documented intersex variations occur:
– Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (XY chromosomes, typically female anatomy)
– 5-alpha reductase deficiency (XY individuals who may appear female at birth and masculinise later)
– XXY, X0, mosaic chromosomal patterns
Chromosomes initiate a pathway. They do not guarantee the final anatomical or physiological result.
Now add brain development.
Sex differentiation of the brain occurs on a different timeline from genital differentiation. It is influenced by prenatal hormone exposure during specific windows of gestation. Neuroendocrinology research shows that hormone signalling in the womb can shape neural structures associated with body perception and identity.
Because these developmental stages occur at different times and through partially independent mechanisms, divergence is biologically plausible. That is the context in which transgender identity is studied.
There is no “trans gene.” There is no single cause. There is layered development influenced by:
– Chromosomes
– Gene activation
– Hormone production
– Hormone receptor sensitivity
– Timing in utero
– Brain differentiation
Major medical bodies recognise gender incongruence as a real human phenomenon. The World Health Organization does not classify it as a mental disorder. Clinical guidelines exist because this is a studied aspect of human development, not imagination.
Comparing transgender identity to fantasy ignores embryology, endocrinology and neuroscience.
Men have nipples because early human development follows a shared blueprint before differentiation begins. That same reality shows that sex development is a process across weeks in the womb, not a single on-off switch. When that process diverges in different tissues at different times, variation occurs.
That is not ideology. That is developmental biology.
If someone says “biology textbooks disagree,” they are quoting the first page and ignoring the rest of the chapter.
@shfkwochcidoej@OldManLefty1@tberk60 Well that's the thing, a lot of people can't live their life anymore because of this man. It's not "sad & pathetic" to be preoccupied with someone who has done, and continues to do harm to people & is actively putting half the world at risk with his idiotic policies.
@esjesjesj Personal preferences aside, I'm pretty sure they felt intimidated by her. An active, accomplished, confident woman who clearly doesn't NEED (key word) a man in her life is always going to be off-putting to insecure & immature little boys, because she makes them feel inadequate.
@causer_tracey@Jenny_1884 It's not really a free choice if you're compelled to make it because of fear 😉 Hey now. Who said you can't philosophise on this app? 😆
@Awk20000 Yeah, cause there's *definitely* no chemicals on the inside. And everybody knows that moisture in food protects it against mold and bacteria.
What a smart, educated woman. 🙄😂
@bugaroo19@NoLieWithBTC I want to see "dei crap", am I not a person? 😆 Also, don't use the abbreviation like a coward. Say the actual words. Say that you hate diversity, equity and inclusion. But then don't you dare complain when you're the one who ends up being excluded or discriminated against.
@jk_rowling You can have female rapists in women's prisons too, dear. And male rapists in the form of guards (happens more than you think). And what about letting trans men into male prisons, I see you're rather quiet on that. Or do you only care about the safety of cis people?
@jk_rowling Sex and gender are different things. But since you mentioned it, scientifically and biologically there do actually exist more than 2 sexes. Both in humans and in a plethora of other organisms.
No one is supporting child sterilisation or having male rapists in women's prisons.
@forallcurious "(...)the plans for development of the outlying regions of the Galaxy require the building of a hyperspatial express route through your star system, and regrettably your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition."
@AKryoiz57739 @PhilReed77@ppyowna - as is intellectual humility and politeness, btw, which you sorely lack. I grew up around academics and teachers & none of them were ever rude or condescending towards the less educated or smart. The Dunning-Kruger effect, on the other hand, is 100% a thing. Unfortunately.
@AKryoiz57739 @PhilReed77@ppyowna I'd refer you to a dictionary since you don't seem to know what tangible means. And if my arguments were illogical then we should also agree yours displayed both ignorance and a lack of reading comprehension or recognition of nuance, all of which are components of intelligence -
