Doom and Age of Empires creator Sandy Petersen blasts Amazon over their handling of Stargate:
"1) get handed a massively popular IP that spans 17 years of successful shows."
"2) realize it has millions of loyal fans, desperate for more. They are now in their 40s and 50s, flush with money. Eager to teach their kids & grandkids about Stargate."
"3) you could start with this. You are already three steps up the ladder to huge success. The fans will evangelize it, if you don't wreck the IP. Don't believe it? Look how the fans evangelized Battlestar Galactica after its 30 year hiatus. And the initial Dr Who reboot after 15 years."
"4) cancel the project because you want a "new take" that will eliminate all the loyal fans and turn them into bitter enemies."
"It's like an ancient Greek play about hubris."
Why are corporate execs like this?
The Op Prosper soldiers at Fort iKapa are moving today into accommodation bungalows at AFB Ysterplaat. Meals will be served by the much better Ysterplaat mess.😀
Mr Phiroane Phala, obviously the Fort iKapa facilities were not good enough!
Just another reason why SAPS must be restructured from top to bottom, different organisation with different leadership. Even the most junior cop has no incentive to serve with the example set by the current leadership.
Defence Min Angie Motshekga spoke at the tabling of the Defence Budget this morning. I was left totally underwhelmed.
Just where do I start?
I do not believe she was forceful enough in stating the absolute dire circumstances the SANDF finds itself in.

Plus, the post itself is deeply misleading: In real terms the defence budget has actually decreased this year & over the rest of the MTEF.
There’s no additional allocation. If this level of underfunding continues it’ll soon become impossible to operate the Gripens or the Hawks.
We need to get official accounts using the correct imagery for these updates. South Africa has never operated F-15s.
So, as a variation of my old tank/not a tank posts, I’ve created a new educational tool. :)
@GovernmentZA Not only the wrong pic, but @GovernmentZA still posts disinformation about the Defence budget. This is not additional funds, it is funds that Defence normally gets, just that the actual Defence budget has *declined* in real terms!
What the Artemis II astronauts did over the last 10 days was a testament to their bravery. And the fact that they traveled farther from Earth than anyone ever has, re-entered our atmosphere at more than 24,000 mph, and splashed down safely was a testament to human ingenuity. Thanks to everyone at @NASA for making this mission possible, and for taking us along for the ride.
Terribly sad to hear of Nick Pope’s passing. Nick was a kind and intelligent person who threw his every ounce of energy into informing the world about the UAP secrets to which he was a witness. Vale Nick.
Hyundai South Africa continues to sell its bestselling Grand i10, despite an independent crash test rating of zero stars, by defending its legality under the country’s weak safety regulations, writes @WendyKnowler.

Another day, another wish for my death.
Why? Because an ex police chief whose corruption charges I reported on has claimed with zero evidence that me - and others who reported on his highly publicised case - were agents.
You are so eager to threaten me, you’ll believe anything.
I feel the same.
Unless there’s a specific legal action that the South African government could have or should have taken but chose not to, and I’m not seeing evidence of that as yet, I think this is the US committee wrongly using this as a convenient stick against SA.
As I’ve written before, an entirely expected side effect of the US’s actions under the Trump administration would be that its former allies would hedge by forming closer ties with China, though without going all-in and aligning fully.
Expect many in the EU to do the same.
In the political arena, it is all about optics. Not what you do, but what you are seen to be doing.
Iran purposefully and publicly went to sea with the rest of the exercise fleet, to an exercise area in False Bay that is out of eyesight.

This article is long on speculation and short on verified information. It needed another week or two of investigation, right now all it it can verify is that a civilian chartered cargo aircraft flew into Upington from Dar es Salaam, then flew into Lanseria to refuel, then left.
