In our latest #GinkgoBits blog post, our Head of Software @BostonJamieCho explains what qPCR is, a term that you may have heard a lot during this #Covid_19 pandemic.

Just to beat the bushes again: We a @ginkgo are building a 10K/day SARS-CoV-2 sequencing operation to generate information for COVID-19 epidemiology. We're looking for RNA samples, both to validate our process and ultimately to feed the beast.
Hey tweetsters, take a look at https://t.co/OSxks8jPdo
where Birgitte, our Head of Sequencing, talks about how Ginkgo Bioworks (coolest company on the planet) is scaling out our already massive, highly-automated DNA/RNA sequencing capability to apply to #COVID19 research. Our
Breaking (potential breakthrough) early clinical trial results from France on HCQ, first well controlled study against COVID-19.
600 mg HCQ per day after 6 days, 90% of patients tested COVID-19 negative. 96% of control group tested positive after 6 days.
What will go down as the biggest breakdown in the US response to #COVID19 is the lack of test kits. South Korea and the US had their 1st patients on Jan 20 and Jan 21, respectively. Look at the difference in daily testing. By March 4th, SK was ~18,000 per day.
Why cloud? Because of Moore’s Law with the engineering of organisms, says Florencio Mazzoldi, Head of Digital Technology at @ginkgo. “We engineer 3x more organisms every year. We were on-premises before, and we needed to scale.”
