Snoqualmie Falls this evening at 6:45pm, when the flow was at 65.9 kcfs. Still can’t believe how incredible it was seeing THAT much water come over the falls. #WAwx
WOW! Severe storm covers the street with hail in Phoenix. Looks like snow! Miguel Roman shot this near 100th Ave and Lower Buckeye. (11/19) #azwx#azfamily
Surprise! Caught some silvery noctilucent (night shining) clouds after sunset tonight, as I was looking toward Phoenix. It’s been years since I’ve personally seen these type of high altitude clouds, so it was a treat. 💯 #azwx
No rain is in the immediate future, as the entire state starts to dry out. For perspective, Phoenix picked up 3.26" of rain the last 5 days. The annual average rain total in Phoenix is 7.22". https://t.co/x2bP2shaPt
This graphic summarizes our preliminary damage survey from the supercell that moved through the Guadalupe/ Tempe/Scottsdale areas yesterday afternoon. There was widespread 70mph wind damage, with a smaller area of the worst damage supporting locally higher (80-90mph) winds. #azwx
A significant microburst and thunderstorm hit Tempe at 1 p.m. today. It caused significant damage to some parts of Tempe, especially the area from Guadalupe to Elliott roads from Kyrene to Rural roads. If you do not need to travel, please stay off the roads. Tempe Police are directing traffic at the busiest intersections where traffic lights are out. If you see a fallen limb blocking a roadway, please call 480-350-8311. The National Weather Service stated that storm conditions are expected to last until approximately p.m. today, with additional storms expected to come. Please pay attention and drive safely. In the event of an emergency, please call 9-1-1. If you are out of power and need a place to go, these Tempe community centers are open until 6 p.m.: Escalante, Westside and North Tempe.
Whoa!!! A downburst thrashed Tempe Monday afternoon with 70+ mile per hour winds reported in the area. Numerous trees are down and thousands were without power as of Monday afternoon. This video shows the intense wind and rain as the downburst made its way through town. #azwx
Beautiful calm after the #arizona storms. I love the sky reflection in this newly formed (and temporary) neighborhood lake on the east side of the Phoenix metro. #azwx
I know that Dust devils occur on the microscale in meteorology, however, every single "biggest of the big" Dust devils that I have witnessed were spinning cycloncially. Maybe something going on with a larger scale thermal process in Eastern WA when conditions are favorable? Smaller dust devils are a coin flip.
Chased for 15 hours yesterday into this morning…caught a supercell by Salome and by 3:30am I had driven nearly 800 miles, sliced up my leg up on a cactus and caught one of my all-time favorite images! What a day! #azwx#addicted
