@MaryBowdenMD I feel that it's WAY overdone in newborns these days. Pre early 2000's, it was only a rare baby with mod/severe ankyloglossia plus difficulty latching. Nowadays, the slightest problem latching and off they go to an oral surgeon, ENT, or overzealous peds.

@TraeyzX FP's can work ER shifts. I used to do it all of the time, moonlighting a couple 12 hr shifts in rural community hospitals. But the bigger issue is that FP can bring in >$500k/yr working M-F if they wanted to, but some refuse to learn the ways and simply want be an employee.

@InvestingDoc There was a day when we PCP's used to admit and manage our own patients in the hospital. The hospital didn't pay us a dime. We were well-rounded. Patients loved it. Not sure who thought it was a good idea to go the hospitalist route but maybe the pendulum will swing back?
