@bobbyfijan Rent stabilization is designed to allow people to stay in their current apartment. When people have kids they generally seek larger apartments and the supply reducing aspects actually make it harder.
@upzonenj Programs that do not serve a broad base of the community should be reduced. Solomon’s own right to counsel program is 4X more expensive than this parks maintenance savings and will only be accessible to few.
@AlexGleas@JerseyCity Honestly passing an ordinance about backyard pets when the city is in a “budget crisis” is tone deaf and demonstrates she cares more about animals than residents.
@EleanaLittle Please consider asset sales. Development adds to the tax base in thr long run and in thr short run the proceeds help reduce the deficit.

Selling assets is exactly what families do when they have a budget crisis. Lose a job? People tap their investments. People downsize housing.
To categorically rule out selling land is insulting to taxpayers. Why hoard parking lots?

.@SolomonforJC held an impromptu presser during the council meeting.
"We are not moving forward with any land sales that were not moving already, right? We have not looked at city assets & said 'we're gonna sell this because of the budget crisis.'"

@upzonenj It’s not just because of a tax revolt. It’s because the cost of public services is way too high, largely driven by public unions and onerous regulations / requirements from the city itself. Fix the cost structure!
@JosephSzymanski Definitely see the point for football since our stadiums can be configured for FIFA. Not so sure about the Olympics with more esoteric infrastructure that needs to be built and city / state budgets more and more constrained.
