The UK last built a public water reservoir in 1992.
The population has increased by over 10 million in the intervening years. Including a surge of immigration.
Now, the state has the cheek to announce a hosepipe ban. Why is that necessary?
Because no infrastructure has been built to cope with the expanding population.
It rained for the whole of January but not enough reservoirs to catch the water.
Our governments have been absolutely and unrelentingly crap. Short-termist.
Only interested in importing cheap labour. Not a care for the people who live here and want things to work as they do in a civilized country.
The next reservoir, in Havant, is not scheduled for completion till the early 2030s.
Prepare for more hosepipe bans and collapsing sewers.
Britain urgently needs an effective ruling class before we slide into a failed state.

@tech_girl Linux as a developer, because it puts me in best control of the computer itself. MacOS/IOS as a consumer - best hardware, and the most hands off for the mundane. Both put my needs first, just different needs. Windows = horror show, it puts itself and advertisers first.
@_adityaa21 "• You’re judged by output, not effort 10 hours of hard thinking can look like “nothing” if the feature didn’t ship."
This, but if the output doesn't happen to include UI you're still screwed. They don't believe it's real unless it does something to the screen.
@robprogressive This is what humans do when there is short-term upside - no personal liability, no immediate penalty, no immediate consequence, and no constraint.
@BenjaminDEKR The error is to call it "the software industry". Its not one thing. "Coding" websites was never the same as engineering software - it just looked similar.
Look at how Tailwind lost income - there was no moat. Same effect on all websites - it isn't even software specific.
@johnrich Seems to me Charlie would have had more strength, and 1) forgiven him (I don't know how), and 2) unflinchingly debated him in public, and exposed the twisted views that led to this.
@kimmonismus No that's not doing laundry. That's taking objects out of a bucket and putting them in a hole. Impressive for sure, but doing the laundry is handing him my young sons school shirt and saying "clean this". Very long way to go.
