Last year, after a community-led makeover, Spellow Library in Liverpool became the first facility of its kind in the north of England to offer a complete “education to employment” service for people of all abilities.
Last night, it was set on fire as part of the violent disorder in Liverpool.
The people claiming these demonstrations are protecting Britain's children or that they are about 'taking the country back' are not recognizing the influence of alcohol, hot summer nights and social media on gullible, bored young men.
These acts dishonor the memories of the children who died in Southport and actually make it harder for other young people to flourish.
Dear Mr. Musk,
I acknowledge and admire your incredible technological achievements.
I take issue with what you are saying here for three reasons:
1. Inevitability is not a word I think you accept in the world. You are an entrepreneur and will work and strive to make the impossible possible. So why should we accept the inevitability of social disintegration?
2. With great power comes great responsibility, as Peter Parker would say. Why would you use your platform to spread fear?
3. The people burning down libraries and attacking police officers are not immigrants but local mobs.
They partied , they bet on elections , they crashed the economy, they broke every public service, they destroyed integrity and honesty in public office , they paid their mates billions , they put their friends in the House of Lords, they gave their cronies knighthoods, they went into the jungle , they lied again and again, they were convicted by police, they went on holiday when they shouldn’t and they have the cheek to question Keir Starmer’s work ethic. I would never take anything for granted but I hope they are annihilated on Thursday. The worst people and government we have ever had!
P.S good afternoon all 😊❤️
But from this side of the pond, it seems that Donald Trump is like a cat burglar who brings beefsteak to distract the guard dogs while he robs the house. By throwing the evangelicals the red meat issues of pro-gun, pro-gender norms and an anti-abortion rhetoric, is Trump just keeping them preoccupied while pursuing another course entirely?

I'm profoundly disturbed by the way that some Christian leaders in the US are drawing an equivalence between Jesus' unjust trial and execution with Donald Trump's criminal conviction.
Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, with whom he had an adulterous relationship.
To compare Trump to Jesus is a disgrace.
Jesus is the son of God who lived a life of selfless compassion. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and welcomed strangers.
He laid down his life to offer the forgiveness of sins to all of us.
To make any kind of justification for Trump's actions by comparing him to Jesus is a serious, indeed a blasphemous suggestion.
@matt_redman@DianeLangberg@ChiChiObuaya @amyorrewing Thank you Matt and Beth for your thoughtful, frank, sane and thorough response to an appalling cycle of abuse.
UCCF has finally acknowledged that recently leaked details of employment policies WERE practiced, despite denying the document was formal/official policy. https://t.co/fZfEaLO9sF The doc revealed UCCF knew none of the reasons it had for wanting young staff workers…1/2
@RealTimVine my stomach aches from laughing so often tonight at Tim Vine at The Landmark Theatre Ilfracombe. No one else packs in so many gags in an act. Bravo! Now where did I put that bottle of Milk of Magnesia?
I wrote a few weeks ago about the culture that I participated in whilst working with UCCF. This article from @katienorouzi is a painful yet necessary read. There was a large, not small number impacted by our practises. I hope more come forward to tell their story.
