We're now seeing a faster acceleration toward a future where the vast majority of jobs will be automated. When I originally tweeted this, robots were mostly driving that acceleration. Now we have AI, which will only get more advanced.

UBI is really the only sensible solution.

AI will eliminate jobs faster than new ones are created, and there will probably be far fewer new jobs created overall to balance out those that disappear.

And I say this I say this as someone who is personally excited about AI.

@Rob4gov2024 (1/2) I understand that we have fundamentally different perspectives, so we're probably not going to come to any sort of agreement. That said, there are numerous methods for funding UBI beyond simply taxing income. I could share some resources if you're interested.

@Rob4gov2024 As far as how much it would cost, that depends on the exact implementation. But at some point, the cost of UBI won't really matter, bc it will the cost of ensuring society continues to function, due the vast majority of jobs being automated.

@Rob4gov2024 Qualify for the tax, as in who should get UBI depending on how much money they're making? There's a lot of discussion and thought about this, and I don't have a strong opinion on it, only that UBI is going to be absolutely necessary in the very near future.

@Rob4gov2024 Thanks for the reply. I think a crowdsourced UBI is definitely an interesting idea, but to be effective on a wide scale, UBI really needs to be implemented by the government. I don't think UBI supporters are the ones capable of funding it. They're typically lower/middle class.
