Happy to share a high-quality and chromosome-scale assembly of the hexaploid wheat genome using
@nanopore, @bionanogenomics and @ArimaGenomics. Great collaboration between @CEA_Officiel and @INRAE_France.

Our new paper in biorxiv. High-quality assembly of the 15Gb hexaploid wheat genome (cultivar Renan) with nanopore long-reads. Started 3 years ago, quite a lot of methodological dev, but we made it!

the importance of the IWGSC @wheatgenome reference sequence presented by @fredChoulet@BreedWheat 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼and a great work on the role of TEs in genome structuration
#Blé tendre => Un #génome 40x + grand que celui du riz et très complexe à déchiffrer. Voilà pourquoi il a fallu 13 ans aux scientifiques pour le séquencer. #BRAVO ! @wheatgenome @Inra_France @fredChoulet
Wicker, Gundlach, Choulet and the IWGSC examine the distribution of transposable elements in the three subgenomes of wheat, finding evidence that distance between genes is under evolutionary constraint https://t.co/XZ5LN0EbiK
As part of the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium, @michaelalaux, @hquesneville and others at the IWGSC present the wheat@URGI portal, for exploring the sequence data and linking it to phenotype information https://t.co/icVzmI3ZNN
The IWGSC, of which INRA is a leading member, announces publication of the first #wheat_genome reference sequence today in @sciencemagazine. #RP_Inra
