Yes. It is utterly baffling and dismaying to much of the world why there are not millions on the streets pretty much every night, and why there are not massive general strikes. It is true quite a few Americans still approve of what is going on, but very many millions do not.
Victor Marx, frontrunner for the GOP nod for CO Gov, makes astonishing claims about his accomplishments. He’s either had one of the most extraordinary lives in human history or he’s a liar and a fraud.
When I asked how voters should decide, he joked that his dog would bite me.

Israel claims Iran’s Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed in today’s strikes.
The fog of war is thick. But if the reports are correct—and especially if they hold over the next 12–24 hours—this is one of the most consequential geopolitical events of the 21st century.
Khamenei was the constitutional keystone of the Islamic Republic: Commander-in-chief of all armed forces; ultimate authority over war, nuclear policy, and foreign relations; religious legitimizer of the regime; arbiter among Iran’s rival and corrupt power centers.
Iran’s regime is fractured now. That may be a good thing—or not. External attacks can save regimes. Millions of Iranians (and others in the region) will see this as America and Israel assassinating their primary religious leader, not just the political leader.
And the succession crisis now ignited in Iran could well end up with a Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) regime and a more militarized Iran.
The survival of the Islamic Republic is now in question. Whatever one thinks of that national project in Iran, what might come next could well be worse. More radical, more militant, less in control of a chaotic aftermath that will last for years.
The Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war because the Framers insisted that the representatives of the people weigh all the vast implications. But now, desperate to distract from the spectacular failure of his illegal tariffs, the Epstein files, and spiraling inflation, the president who campaigned on keeping us out of regime-change ‘forever wars,’ like Iraq and Afghanistan, just launched unilateral military strikes against Iran without any Congressional declaration of war. Speaker Johnson must call us into session for a vote immediately.
Fuck NBC! The reason NBC censored the massive booing of JD Vance during the Olympics opening ceremony was due to Republican donor and pedophile protector Cesar Conde, the vacuous Trump-loving cunt who is chairman of NBCUniversal News Group, which includes NBC and MS NOW. 😳👇
Maureen Dowd: "It seems etymologically, metaphysically, geologically and ethically impossible that President Trump could reach a new low. But he has. Every Friday, when I’m planning my column, I find fresh evidence that the president is unfit for his office."

Three-time Trump voter:
I’m a registered Republican. I voted for Trump, but I really want to apologize. I'm looking at this awful picture of the Obamas. What an embarrassment to our country. All this man does is tell lies. He is not worthy of the presidency. He takes bribes blatantly, and now he's being a racist blatantly…He's pathetic as a president, and I just want to apologize to everybody in the country for supporting this rotten, rotten man.

SIR IAN MCKELLEN. He is doing so many things here at once: giving an acting lesson, giving a history lesson, emphasizing the power of arts, AND eloquently speaking against ICE & silencing anti-immigrant bigotry.
Wow…..
Has there ever been a more disreputable bunch of wealthy men willing to sell out their own institutions (media, law firms, universities, etc) to curry favor with an even more disreputable wealthy man?
If you want to FINALLY watch Scott Bessent get pinned down on specifics about the illegal money laundering operation being conducted by the Trump admin from someone who knows WTF he’s talking about, this clip is your chance. Bessent gets destroyed.
The media world’s stunned/shocked reaction to the awful WaPo layoffs shows that even now, so many in journalism still can’t believe billionaires aren’t going to rescue them.
This is a wake up call: oligarchs are not the benevolent saviors media have long depicted them to be.
The layoffs are awful, as have been so many others at lower profile, local outlets. I lament the hollowing out of this industry. It’s all a reminder that billionaires will not save us.
Maybe the media coverage of them shouldn’t so often cast them as heroic saviors.
It's easy to criticize the mainstream media generally, and many MSM journalists actually share many of those critiques, but reporters and editors at the Washington Post have put out a steady stream of very impressive work for decades. The fact that a billionaire oligarch is trying to destroy the institution by itself demonstrates its importance. We're all worse off without it.
