I am flying home today - long travel day. I get to the airport at an ungodly hour - 3:30 AM local. I am finally through security and customs etc, and I sit down. An older man comes and sits right next to me, looks at me directly in the eyes and introduces himself. Andre. He asks me how I am and what I do, and I ask him what he does and he tells me he’s a retired Air Force vet and he’s enjoying life. After some small talk he tells me he’s a diabetic… The next 1.5 hours were spent on education. I told him everything I could about the science behind carnivore and tell him he can CURE himself and probably never need insulin again if he just goes to @KenDBerryMD channel or @SBakerMD on YouTube. He hands me his phone, I sub him to both and create a playlist for him to listen on the plane. Before leaving, he asks if we can swap email in case he has any questions.

THIS is how we change things. Not on social media - by having real conversations with other humans.

I wanted a baby so badly.

We conceived on our wedding night.

At our anatomy scan at 20 weeks we got the bad news:

I had placenta previa. I was put on modified bed rest.

At 22 weeks I had massive bleed and I was rushed by ambulance in the middle of the night in a snow storm up to Rochester.

The NICU team came in and explained what would happen to the baby if they did an emergency C section that early.

The bleeding stopped and I went home a few days later.

A couple weeks later I was back in the hospital with another bleed. Then sent back home.

On my third bleed they discovered the placenta moved but it divided itself in half. The condition turned into vasa previa, which is very dangerous.

I was admitted to the hospital where I stayed for the rest of the pregnancy.

They warned me about complications and problems that my baby might have as a result of coming early.

I prayed and prayed and prayed.

They did a C section at 35 weeks. My baby was born perfectly healthy. He didn’t spend a second in the NICU.

During the C section I lost a lot of blood. Almost two litres. At one point I felt myself slipping away. My blood pressure bottomed out. My heart rate was erratic. I was vomitting and aspirating on my vomit.

The busy and loud operating room went silent.

I thought, “this is it. I’m about to die.”

A warm white light came over me and I prayed to Jesus and to Our Blessed Mother to intercede for me.

Next thing I knew I was back. The doctors started talking again. My husband sighed audibly. The anaesthesiologist who was monitoring my vitals said, “we got her.”

A few minutes later I was all stitched up.

Before leaving the OR the surgeon showed me the placenta. It was so covered in lesions it looked like ground beef. The surgeon said it was also embedded too deeply in my uterus, and I lost a lot of blood when they removed it.

As they wheeled me out of the operating room to recovery I thanked them for keeping me alive, and I was greeted at my recovery room by a priest was there to baptise my baby.

That little baby turned one year old yesterday.

So yes. Prayer has “worked” for me.

i dealt with USAA insurance yesterday and there customer service is spot on, I have dealt with two other companies on their products and got sent over sea to someone who are learning English and cannot discuss their product line because they know nothing about them. Only buy things warehoused in the states.

Yesterday I went into @adorama (a major NYC camera equipment store) and spent over $2,000 on a camera, mics, lighting, cables, etc. As I’m unpacking it appears that something didn’t get packed in my bag.

I call their number and get told by the robot that I’ll be on hold for 2 minutes. 17 minutes later a man with a heavy accent answers and tells me he can’t find my order using my email/phone number (which I used to place the order).

The entire time we’re talking I can hear a rooster crowing, which sounds like it’s 10 feet away from him. I finally lost it and asked, “Are you in the store right now??” (obviously knowing that he wasn’t).

He tells me no, and apologizes for his rooster, then asks me if I would like to be connected to customer service inside the store. So obviously, I say yes. Then I end up on hold for another 20 minutes before I finally hung up.

So I called back and went through the exact same experience – the robot telling me I would be on hold for two minutes and one person is ahead of me. I stayed on hold for seven minutes and gave up again.

Then I remembered that one of the sales guys gave me his business card, so I called back a third time and hit the extension on his card, and was directed to a voicemail where I’ve left a message and asked someone to call me back.

I literally feel despair.

I spent thousands of dollars and I cannot even connect to anybody at this company to get service based on a mistake that their sales team made.

We are facing a subzero cold snap in New York, and it feels right now like my only option is to go out and go down to that store in person because I will not be able to connect with a human being in the United States of America to get service on my order.

This is just the dreadful reality of trying to do business in America today. What a nightmare we’ve become.
