Anyone who rides public transit and has had an incident involving someone behaving disruptively or making a mess knows the person doing that did not look like this.

So many portrayals of this kind of disorder invert reality in this way. Every ad of this kind seems to do this, but it's also in movies like "Joker" with the white, suit-wearing "Wall Street guys" harassing Joaquin Phoenix on the subway.

I can't imagine there is a deliberate campaign to do this; I imagine multiple people have gone through the same process of being upset about a disturbing incident of social disorder and wanting to make a PSA about it or include it in a TV show or movie, being concerned about the racial dynamic of an accurate portrayal of the incident they experienced, and concluding that race is not a salient part of the issue and can therefore be fictionalized. Leading to this.

But honestly, I think most people will agree that this is ridiculous, even if the conversation about why it is ridiculous might be uncomfortable.
