Frontmost AI is the missing piece that lets ChatGPT or Claude put your AI search strategy into action. It gives your AI the ground truth to work from: your mentions, citations, competitors, movement over time, and where to focus next to win AI search.

@mumairii810 One catch: Sears's one first place came on the AC repair wording. On HVAC company, first went to Hetter, then to Fire & Ice, and Sears never led there. So I'd keep the tally by wording, because the tie-break can change with the words a buyer types.
@AlDev0 Easy to win once, but thin: each of those 31 names got 1 of 46 answers over 19 scans, about 2%. A buyer asking would rarely see any one of them. The other 14 in the tail got 2 or 3, and I'd look at those first. This only counts answers citing r/AI_Agents.
@boishivers@Reddit Ran the second one, the 167 site. Same shape: 286 citations, 147 to the home page, 45 to pricing. New part: 54 went to its help center, 20 of them to one free-trial article. These are URL counts, so we can't say which line on a page the answer used.
@mumairii810 Show-ups will tie in that set: Sears was in all 5 too, and it came first once while Logan never did, so rank still breaks ties. Hetter was in 4 of 5, one answer behind. That was 5 answers in about 2 hours, so a few mornings will show if the gap holds.
@AnuragKulk31390 Tested that difference once: "how to give ChatGPT read-only access to one local folder and exclude .env files" in AI Mode. It gave read-only mode plus moving .env out or OS file permissions, no mention of you. Your exclusions answer that .env step, so I'd give it its own page.
@ChrisSimpson Asked Google AI Mode "does stump grinding remove the roots and who cleans up after" today, one answer. It answered both complaints before any click and said to always ask "Is wood chip removal and backfilling included in this price?" I'd write those FAQ answers for the buyer too.
@rustybrick Ran "best seat cushion for office chair" in AI Mode today, one answer. 3 sponsored items sat before "All products" across 2 rows, and none made its comparison table. The first pick after each divider did: Cushion Lab and Purple. Both also show in the Sponsored block at the end.
@seobydan@alexwolk1 Is that web traffic on the site with the block? If so, blocking Google-Extended did not stop Gemini clicks. For the app part, your tagged weeks give a baseline: mobile direct to deep pages should rise by about what the tag stopped counting.
@AlDev0 Merged the obvious ones just now. The tail drops from 53 names to 45, and the one-answer names from 39 to 31. So it shrinks less than you'd think, and most of what's left still shows up once. Spelling cleanup alone doesn't change the shape.
@jasondavisseo I'd set the click rate per search too. In Google today, "bathroom remodel cost tampa" opened with an AI Overview that gave the price range, $10,000 to $35,000. "bathroom remodeler tampa" opened with the map and no overview. One search each, but the same click rate won't fit both.
@seobydan@alexwolk1 Few small sites have made that call: of 51 Austin dental sites whose robots.txt we read on Oct 27, 1 blocks Google-Extended. Have you seen any change in the Gemini app since you blocked it?
@mumairii810 A few mornings sounds right. I'd also report how many runs a shop shows up in, not only its rank. Across those 5 answers, 4 different companies came first, and Logan was in all 5 without ever being first. A report on who came first would miss Logan.
@boishivers@Reddit Checked the top one. ChatGPT gave that site 299 citations across those answers: 156 to the home page, 34 to pricing, 26 to an agency page, 20 to agency pricing. No comparison page among the 24 URLs cited. So pricing detail fits your guess, comparisons don't, on this one site.
@AlDev0 Not yet, the thread read is still open. The tail is long but thin, though: 53 names sit at 3 or fewer of those 46 answers and 39 at just 1, some of them spellings of the same tool. Getting in once looks easy. Showing up twice is the harder count.
@photomatt@builtwith@W3Techs@Reddit@WordPress Worth splitting that drop by site type. Today Google AI Mode's first source for "How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Atlanta?" was a local remodeler's WordPress page, 2 of 2 runs. A cited page can still lose clicks, but service sites may move differently from content sites.
@viral_mktg_co On the first one: we read robots.txt for 51 Austin dentist sites on Oct 27 and 0 blocked OAI-SearchBot. One niche, and we didn't test firewalls, but for a local site I'd look at your other three first.
@yuvalcarmelseo Ran your exact question twice in Google AI Mode today. First source both times was a cost page from TCW Homes, an Atlanta-area remodeler. Thumbtack made both source lists, Angi and BBB neither. ChatGPT cited TCW too. Small test, but step 3 looks like it can work.
@iraiansar That results-page-first habit makes sense. Of those 50 AI Overviews, how many cite a page that ranks in the top 3? If many cite pages further down, position 8 may still have a way in through the Overview.
@EldarCohenSEO Local looks different in Google AI Mode too. One answer today to "Who's the best dentist in Austin, Texas?" had 14 source cards, and 12 were Google listings. So add listing calls and direction requests to what you watch.
