The Catholic bishops of New York are opposing a bill that would replace the terms “father,” “mother,” and “filiation” with “gender-neutral language,” charging that the change would “mock the foundation of the family.”
The bishops, through a memorandum of opposition published by the @NYSCatholicConf, accuse the state lawmakers of once again showing how they are “focused on political pandering and appeasing a very small group of loud advocates.”

It was a joy, honor, and inspiring moment as the Bishops of the US, in a sign of great hope and trust, consecrated our nation to the care of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Interesting post from the White House - "Melania and I join in prayer with Catholic Bishops gathered in Orlando, as they consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the occasion of our 250th year of American Independence."

Even with all of the dramatic changes last year to programs like these, in the end it is realized that globally, the Catholic Church is still the most effective institution for charity and faith-driven outreach just about anywhere in the world.

The bishops of the US meet this week in the Diocese of Orlando, FL. Before heading to the meeting hotel I had a nice visit to the Cathedral of St. James the Greater.
I've been blessed to live all of my priesthood (except for 1 year) with at least one other priest. In much of the US this is not possible. All should know of the toll that loneliness has on their priests.

One would be terribly remiss to be driving the beautiful Lincoln Hwy (US 30), and not visit the National Flight 93 Memorial. Such quiet dignity and solemnity. It is hard to believe that it is almost 25 years. May we never forget. May they rest in peace.
On my way back to DC from Milwaukee. Made a stop for a nice chance to pray at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in the Diocese of Greensburg (Pennsylvania). Very nice. Very classic.
The Holy See today announced that Fr. Tony Corcoran S.J., Apostolic Administrator of Kyrgyzstan, will be ordained a bishop. I am honored to be a friend and brother priest. He is the best of a missionary and evangelist for Christ. My prayers are with him and the people he serves.
This story also has another message, St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee is at capacity & able to raise $75M for restoration and additions. So much vibrant faith even NBA superstars feel a need to pause and take notice. Check out https://t.co/vxvXxN2t36 https://t.co/1mF3zlcunH
32 years ago today, I was ordained a priest. There have been ups and downs. But I know Christ has carried me, the Holy Spirit has been with me, and I serve in the way the Father plans for me. Thanks to all who have blessed my vocation. I pray for you, and the Church, daily.
For part of the time between two family weddings, I am relaxing and working remotely from Door County, WI. Will be celebrating mass the Sunday at St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay.
Happened upon this vid & found it interesting. I know nothing of the speaker or history of the channel. While there are risks or reductionism, it is admitted. Overall, a good intro to the topic.

Received a tour the other day from Fr. Luke Strand of the renovations occurring at St. Francis de Sales Seminary. Amazing what Milwaukee is doing for its seminary that is filled with vocations.
