This just came up when I was giving a guest lecture! One of the students asked what I meant when I was calling an allele "reference", wondered how we could possibly have a whole "reference genome".

For two decades, the benchmark for human DNA has been a genome released in 2001 made from only a handful of people recruited in Albany, NY.

I've read over and over that the best way to form an exercise habit is to have a reason other than "lose weight" or "have good body".
Can confirm this is true, now I think
more cardio = harder hikes = more rockhounding localities
more weights = more/heavier rocks carried back

prospective students & postdocs may be interested to know that our lab is in a corner of BioSci Building, so we are lined by windows on two sides.

I often used to go in and find the lab working with the lights off, because there is enough natural light!
