Hey, guess what: this claim on the $TSLA web site remains a complete & total lie, which means charging $7000 for it is a complete and total FRAUD:
"Coming later this year:
Recognize and respond to traffic lights and stop signs.
Automatic driving on city streets."
*Tesla to invest $2b to buy Series E preferred shares of Xai. $TSLA
They took a shareholder vote on this. The shareholders rejected it. They did it anyway.
LOL
Grok was so kind as to compile a list of all the failed promises (I call lies) Musk has made regarding $TSLA since 2015 when I bought my first Tesla.
If Trump loses the midterms it’s likely he will blame Musk and down he will go…
• October 2015: Musk promised Tesla would achieve full autonomy in about three years (by 2018). [1] This did not happen; Tesla vehicles still required driver intervention.
• December 2015: Musk stated Tesla would reach complete autonomy in approximately two years (by 2017). [0] [2] [7] No such autonomy was achieved.
• January 2016: Musk claimed Tesla vehicles would drive autonomously with safety levels better than humans within two to three years (by 2018-2019), and that a cross-country summon feature would be possible in two years. [14] [17] Neither occurred; cross-country autonomy demos were repeatedly delayed.
• June 2016: Musk declared autonomous driving a “solved problem” and predicted complete autonomy safer than humans in less than two years (by 2018). [1] [7] [10] This timeline was missed entirely.
• October 2016: Musk announced all new Tesla vehicles would have hardware for full self-driving capability. [14] [13] Owners who paid for this feature have not received full autonomy, leading to lawsuits and regulatory scrutiny.
• February 2018: Musk promised a cross-country fully autonomous drive within three to six months (by August 2018). [17] No such demonstration took place.
• January 2019: Musk predicted full self-driving would be safe enough for rollout toward the end of 2019. [1] [7] This was not achieved.
• February 2019: Musk claimed Tesla would be “feature complete” for full self-driving by the end of 2019, allowing the car to drive to any destination without intervention. [1] [13] FSD remained incomplete and supervised.
• April 2019: Musk said human intervention in FSD would decrease safety by the end of 2019 or 2020 at the latest, implying unsupervised autonomy. [7] Drivers are still required to supervise.
• July 2020: Musk stated Tesla was “very close” to Level 5 autonomy (full self-driving in all conditions) by the end of 2020. [0] [6] Tesla stayed at Level 2.
• January 2021: Musk promised full self-driving would be realized in 2021 with reliability above humans. [4] This did not occur.
• July 2021: Musk claimed FSD-equipped Teslas would drive themselves safer than humans by the end of 2021. [14] No unsupervised FSD was released.
• 2022: Musk repeatedly promised full autonomy by the end of the year. [17] It was not delivered.
• 2023: Musk admitted to being the “boy who cried FSD” but still promised full autonomy later in 2023. [0] [6] [13] The year ended without it.
• July 2024: Musk promised unsupervised FSD by the end of 2024. [8] This deadline passed without fulfillment.
• Throughout 2025: Musk promised unsupervised FSD in California and other areas by the end of 2025, including robotaxis reaching 50% of the US population and fully autonomous rides for the public. None of these were met; FSD still requires supervision.
• December 2025: Musk claimed unsupervised robotaxis would launch in Austin by the end of the month. This did not happen.
• January 2026: After missing 2025 deadlines, Musk shifted the goalpost, stating Tesla needs 10 billion miles of data for safe unsupervised FSD (up from a prior 6 billion miles claim), implying further delays. As of January 27, 2026, unsupervised FSD is not available.
Musk said 50% of the US or about 175 Million people would have Robotaxi by the beginning of this week on the Q2 earnings call...and there are exactly ZERO with access to a Tesla Robotaxi that doesn't have a Tesla employee in it.
I can't see any way a reasonable person could make that statement and believe it was truthful.
$TSLA
@YPersisted@OverlyTrev@TroyTeslike It is indeed amazing how people keep believing this. It's weeks away for many years now. It's a level 2 system that suddenly will become level 5 .... 😆
They will have to step up the fraud though and drive the cars remotely more and more.
@GordonJohnson19@Waymo Indeed. Thousands of corner cases unsolved. One day in the future the tesla lawyers will say: it was level 2 , how could people think that it would go to level 5 , 3 levels at once, overnight...
Watch @Tesla Full Self-Driving v14.1.3 go 20kph over the speed limit in a school zone on the slowest mode.
@ElonMusk if your software speeds in Sloth mode, how dangerous is it in Mad Max mode?
It should be banned immediately.
Tesla's 2016 "Paint it Black" video showed a Tesla autonomously navigating a commute.
It was a blatant fraud.
After 9 years of development Tesla is nowhere near solving autonomy. Even the latest "Full Self-Driving" v14 still needs a human babysitter to stop it from crashing.
