BEING THE RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD: YACHTS/BOATS
(Oct 26, 2024) Lancaster, PA 🇺🇸
I'm documenting all of Elon Musk's Town Halls, and this was a question that I'm glad was asked because many people do wonder how it feels to be the richest man in the world.
To this question, Elon responded:
"It's kind of a strange thing because I am still very much like a technologist who, you know, I just work a lot. And my recreational activity is just hanging out with friends and family and playing video games. Diablo, or other video games. I don't have any yachts or holiday homes or anything. So, I guess if I was to maybe live a more hedonistic life and have yachts and islands or something like that, that would be more... I don't know because that's not my idea of fun. If I had to sit on the beach, I would be like: This is boring... what am I supposed to do now? You know? I just like building things, I like being productive and doing useful things, making cool products, and that's it pretty much it. I mean, also, I like hanging out with friends and family. You know, I am not saying like, how can I build a bigger yacht, I don't have a boat or anything like that."
An audience member yells out about SpaceX boats:
Elon smiled, laughing,
"Oh!! You're right, I do have a boat. SpaceX has ships that the rocket lands on. I guess technically I do own a boat... so I stand corrected, thank you! Maybe I should go and sail around on one of them or something."
Elon's ships have the best names!
Here are the names of the ships used by SpaceX for catching Falcon 9 boosters, along with their years of operation:
Just Read the Instructions: This ship has been operational since 2015, catching boosters in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California.

Of Course I Still Love You: Operational since 2015, this ship is stationed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida for Falcon 9 booster landings.

These names are inspired by Iain M. Banks' "Culture" series, they reflect Elon's love for science fiction, and add a bit of cosmic flair to the otherwise mundane task of rocket recovery.
Some say, that the grand scheme of the universe, we're just humans playing catch with giant tubes of metal!
This is a small except form my article on Elon Musk's Town Halls in Pennsylvania. 🇺🇸
I'm so proud of the many teams across Apple developing powerful technologies that are improving people’s lives. The Hearing Aid feature on AirPods Pro 2 uses your personalized sound profile so you can hear the moments that matter.
1. How has being “realistic” or “responsible” kept you from the life you want?
2. How has doing what you “should” resulted in subpar experiences or regret for not having done something else?
3. Look at what you’re currently doing and ask yourself, “What will I sacrifice if I continue on this track for 5, 10, or 20 years?”
I asked a friend who's a criminal defense lawyer what he'd change about the world to fix the most problems. He specializes in death penalty cases, so he's seen a lot. I expected him to say drugs, but he said if he could change one thing, it would be to make people better parents.
Thank you very much @tferriss @NoahRFeldman @kevin2kelly for the thought-provoking and entertaining "Heresies" podcast episode. The open sharing of ideas and constructive disagreement was delightful and much appreciated. Nice mix of guests, too.
Hey @jockowillink After Skool posted an optimal morning routine on YouTube that highlights the fact that you are indeed up far earlier than me to train… so I’m setting my alarm for 5am tomorrow.
