Mountain glaciers are losing mass increasingly fast world-wide over the past 75 years in response to #globalwarming. This and permafrost thawing can destabilize mountain sides and cause glacial collapse and flash floods.

This map shows the world through a Spilhaus projection, placing the oceans at the centre and pushing the continents to the edges. It is a reminder that Earth is mostly water, and that our usual world maps are land-biased by design. It's also a projection that makes sense when looking at currents. Source: https://t.co/LFr7lbVNio
At @WorldBankGroup, we are focused on ensuring that blue finance delivers on its development promise. That means channeling private investment into projects that not only protect water resources but also create jobs & long-term economic opportunity. https://t.co/rPMsfNkbM8
At the #OurOceanConference, a high-level dialogue on scaling green shipping corridors across Africa brought together delegates to explore the conditions required to accelerate maritime decarbonisation at scale.
Regulatory certainty emerged as the key enabler for investment into green fuels including hydrogen, ammonia, and e-fuels, with support from partners such as the Danish Maritime Authority, International Power-to-X Hub, @UN Foundation, Sustainable Shipping Initiative, @Maersk Limited, and @goceantrust.
The discussion reaffirmed that green corridors can deliver both climate and ocean benefits while enabling blue economy growth. Scalable progress, however, will depend on strong demand signals through offtake agreements and cargo-owner commitments.
