Whenever I’m feeling like my life has gotten too confusing or out of control, I hear the beckoning song of the Academic Siren, calling me towards my doom
American politicians talking about Puerto Rico never ceases to disgust me.
Their language always so steeped in colonialist attitudes. We are just a "beautiful island," a "perfect place to visit!"
We are a commodity. A commodity to be consumed.
Our archipelago *is* beautiful, but only because land defenders and communities have done everything they can, even sacrificing their freedom and lives, in order to prevent capitalists — from both parties — from completely turning it into an actual floating pile of garbage.
It causes me psychic damage to see liberals "defending" Puerto Rico by flaunting pictures of their vacations while we actual Puerto Ricans are *begging* for the construction of those damn tourism complexes to be prohibited as they're a danger to the environment and public health.
this is objectively one of the best comicbook movies but you won't hear anybody say that because there's women in it. it's controversial. what can be controversial about this whooping fun time of a movie???
Back-to-back record breaking hurricanes, multiple towns wiped off the map, meteorologist crying on live television.
The climate crisis isn’t a future generations problem, we passed the 1.5C of warming threshold last year.
We’re in climate crisis is right now.
chappell roan said that the US government is failing palestine with her entire chest and is still drawing HUGE crowds. the silence from others is deafening
“I’m going to be more conservative than the guy who used to be against integration and later helped get the most anti-black Black man in politics into a supreme court seat” is an interesting stance to take!
Cannot stop thinking about all the disabled people who literally can’t leave. Who will be left for dead in their homes or care facilities or hospitals. Whose demise will be a predictable result of eugenics, ableism, racism, climate denialism, and capitalism. What have we done.
"Imagine being told you’re not disabled enough to receive help... for millions of people with disabilities, it’s a harsh reality. Discrimination comes in many forms, & one of the most insidious is when the very orgs meant to support those with disabilities turn them away."
Colonial violence is raiding the press in the middle of the night, shutting them down, so the genocide can continue without journalistic coverage and witnesses to crimes against humanity.
