As Congressional Republicans scramble to replace the ACA before the end of the year, they’ve put forward a few proposals. One redirects funding for the expiring tax credits to individual spending accounts, similar to HSAs.

Here are FIVE reasons why this won’t work:
1️⃣It would eliminate the enhanced premium tax credits that millions rely on
2️⃣HSAs mainly benefit higher-income households
3️⃣It wouldn't provide actual insurance coverage
4️⃣Republicans would destroy ACA Marketplaces
5️⃣It would do nothing to reduce the cost of care
