We could only find a clearly stated partisan orientation for about half of the 500 news influencers we studied, but among those, there is a slight lean to the political right - 27% vs 21%.
Audiences tend to report positive experiences when getting news from news influencers:
- 65% say news influencers help them better understand current events
- 70% say that news is at least somewhat different than news they would get elsewhere
- 31% feel connected to one

- Mostly men (63%)
- Often voices from outside the news industry - 77% have never had an affiliation with a news org
- Most (85%) have an account on X (as of summer 2024)
- 34% host a podcast
- 22% have a newsletter
