On Saturday, thirteen @NUP_Ug supporters were travelling from Kampala to Luwero for burial. Because they were putting on NUP party colors and had a flag with them, they were intercepted, arrested and detained at Kawempe Police. Today, they have been arraigned before court at Kanyanya and charged with being a nuisance and handling the national flag in "a careless and degrading way". They've not been allowed to even make a bail application but have been remanded till the 28th! The regime always manufacturing cases to ensure a constant presence of political prisoners😡
The thirteen comrades are; Muwonge Martin, Bwire Hakim, Sseremba Paul, Kawanda Ezra, Ssali Fred, Simon Geserwa, Kasule Godfrey, Nakitende Vivian, Waswa Mohammed, Nayebale Grace, Musisi Shafiq, Lubega Shakuru, and Ssuuna Simon.
Here's evidence that, when yuh stand up fi di people, di people a go stand up fi yuh 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Let's keep the contributions coming through.

The official fundraising campaign begins on Monday. However, do not drink your contribution over the weekend. Send mobile money via to +256 776 462727 (MTN) in the name of Agather Atuhaire. Reason: SPIRE. Together, we cannot stop @kiuvarsity from weaponizing the @JudiciaryUG to silence and detain @SpireJim over a UGX.30m “contempt of Court” award. SEND THE MONEY 👇🏿
As you go to bed tonight, make a little prayer for Dr. Kizza Besigye, for Sam Mugumya and for all the other prisoners of conscience. That above all, they may live through this and make it out alive🙏🏽
I am shocked and deeply distressed.
After 7pm tonight, my partner @kizzabesigye1 was bundled up and taken back to Luzira Prison.
When I left KB at 4.30pm, he still could not walk or talk. At lunch, I fed him soft food with a spoon because his arms and hands remain very weak.
He cannot yet care for himself.

Deepest condolences to @nextmediaug and the entire media fraternity on the tragic loss of producer Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye. May God comfort their families. Sending prayers for the full and quick recovery of Brian Ssemanda aka Makona who's in ICU🙏🏽
Comrades Achileo Kivumbi, Gaddafi Mugumya, Eddie Mutwe. Their energy, dreams, vigour and youthful years are locked up in prisons. Their crime? Belonging to @NUP_Ug and supporting its leader @HEBobiwine, and daring to dream that Uganda deserves better.
Mulimba mutufuze bubi nnyo.

Ugandan authorities have brought abusive criminal charges against an opposition politician, Muwanga Kivumbi, apparently based on his criticism of the president’s son, who is head of the armed forces. https://t.co/mFnHXR8DtW
This was 4th February, as our comrade Asiku Raymond, who had just been released from incommunicado detention talked about Sam Mugumya's suffering and pain in the dungeon where they were held together. Very unfortunate that several months later, Sam Mugumya remains held illegally, despite repeated calls for his release.

This afternoon, alongside Acting @NUP_Ug President Hon. @JNambeshe, we visited Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, comrade Mugumya Gaddafi and comrade Smart Wakabi Grace at Kitalya Prison. They're of strong spirits. Let's continue pushing for their freedom!

This evening in Makindye, we visited the home of Mzee John Ddamulira, the @NUP_Ug supporter who was abducted in 2020 and has been missing since. The children invited us as they observed a Holy Mass to honor their late mother, Sarah Ddamulira, who passed on recently. You cannot fail to notice the sadness that has since engulfed this family following the disappearance of their father and death of their mother. We pray that God will comfort and strengthen them, even as we continue to demand for justice and accountability regarding Ddamulira's whereabouts.
