The burning of coal produces deadly emissions such as Mercury, Suflur dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides, Particulate matter, Lead, Cadmium, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, arsenic, as well as CO2 and methane.

Why are China's CO2 emissions falling ? The light blue areas on the chart show that more clean energy is being used to generate power instead of the dark blue areas which represent the burning of fossil fuels.

Is this the biggest story ever ? If this trend continues, yes. Since China leads the world in CO2 emissions ( 32%) when their numbers go down it will have a huge impact on climate change.
