What did you spend your pocket money on?
In 1970, these kids held a serious and intelligent discussion on Nationwide about pocket money and how to spend it.
This is one of BBC Archive’s favourite clips from the past year.
A journalist asks Jacinda Ardern if she met with Finnish PM Sanna Marin just because the two are "similar in age" and have "a lot of common stuff".
It goes about as well as you'd expect.
@MitchBenn Mastodon takes a bit of getting used to but... no neo-nazis or adverts... and the raving nutters end up in their wee boxes only shouting at one another and it's easy to mute various 'orange orders'... so... worth it. Debirdify swaps over following/followers.
@lokiscottishrap If you join that instance (@mastodon.scot) Darren, IrvineWelsh has a nice set of replies on how to link twitter followers in. Or go to https://t.co/Wphksjrons
@lokiscottishrap Went to https://t.co/efEEoWQCrk... quite a lot of interesting folk. No health misinformation or militaristic shite allowed, no neonazis etc. From there Ill link to eg the Glasgow or other communities, and European/other languages/global.
@lokiscottishrap On Mastodon, the # is how you search. So e.g. to link to me, you hit # then type @[email protected]
The browser access to Mastodon is best. The Mastodon app is OK, Tusky is apparently slightly better.
@BipolarRunner@lokiscottishrap Literally on a site called Twit-ter,'tweeting', infested by trolls & bots, funded by interests & adverts, which has given up stopping conspiracy theorists and political extremists. But hey... got a better suggestion?
@lokiscottishrap Mastodon is a co-operative. Relies on % of users running communities (as servers), with own rules. The stampedes will come in waves (& cause occasional issues), as Twitter glitches and/or it moves further to unfunny-extreme. Copy over while quiet, minimise loss of contacts.
One of the most sensible takes on ‘cancel culture’ I’ve seen. Sensible, honest, smart. I’m posting the video directly as Times Radio tweeted it with a clickbait and somewhat misleading headline that unintentionally confirmed his point. More of this please.
@lokiscottishrap Lots of folks saying 'pretty clear cut though' after reading a non-legally qualified journo's sensationalised take, for a rag, of a prosecution case. Pray you're never their prey. But IF... then the guilt runs wider. And the rag supports parties most likely to cut funding, so...
@lokiscottishrap Darren; look at which paper. I am on 'autocynic'. They are sensationalising the prosecution to an 'outraged' readership. Now it may be she did it; the defence case will point out other evidence (which most will never hear about). If anyone did such acts, hell is too good.
@Peston It is a monarchy. Your question is moot. "Will they care/object/protest?". Probably not. "Why will they not protest?". Partially, selective blindness. Partially; see footage of the young man surrounded by unbothered Public but wrestled to the ground and arrested.
@lokiscottishrap Don't even need to seize. Simply limit, temporarily and as an emergency measure, profit levels and dividends, and windfall tax bonuses. It's basic Adam Smith rent-taking limitation; he warned a necessary function of government must be to limit greed acting negatively...
@BBCJamesCook@TheIFS Oh, and keep up the good work - I find your reporting impartial. The spit/shout/charters mob undermine the excellent work Truss/Sunak do towards independence (I'm pro). Though I still think the English want independence more, but cannot articulate it.
@BBCJamesCook@TheIFS Seems about right on basis of figures & report. Caveats of course are always... a) these are the figures as far as we know b) constrained also by decisions of UKgov c) without changes made. But. Look at who Eng votes in. Like those who spit n shout - it's just not good company.
