Today, we're announcing plans to make VS Code an open source AI editor.
We believe AI development should stay true to VS Code's core principles: open, collaborative, and community-driven. Let's build the future of software development together.

What if Studio Ghibli directed Lord of the Rings?
I spent $250 in Kling credits and 9 hours re-editing the Fellowship trailer to bring that vision to life—and I’ll show you exactly how I did it 👇🏼
People are always asking me about how to replicate the kind of community we built for Laravel.
They’re usually after viral organic growth, which is great and definitely something we’ve benefited from. But I don’t think you can approach building community disingenuously and have it be successful.
Here are two things I’ve learned you need to build a successful community:
- A genuine appreciation of what motivates people to belong to something.
- A product that makes their lives meaningfully better in some way.
I shared this and some of the other things I’ve learned over the 14 years of building Laravel with @Mkclements for a conversation on @Accel's Spotlight On podcast.

The problem with “working on it until it works” is that eventually, for reasons, it will stop working.
This is why we write tests. Tests help us ensure that past work continues to function as designed, and alerts us when it stops.
Code rots. Tests don’t let it.

@john_hamelink Yeah sure sounds good. I actually moved to Bath in the south west. But do go back to London occasionally. If you’re ever about in either places would be good to catch up.
