Insane to see how negative the #WAFC fanbase is. The transfer window has not even opened and there are people writing next season off before it’s even started. We’re really not in a bad position; buck up.
@treeandcrown@5mudger We have added analytics to the recruitment process. We have made signing that’s on paper seem like they might be strong but have unfortunately turned out not to be. But also a lot of good loanees will have been recruited in the same process, e.g. Wright, Taylor.
@5mudger@treeandcrown I’d say we’ve enhanced the recruitment process, and then the rest of those things are subjective, surely the endeavour is the important bit? If they’re actually trying it’s sort of out of their hands after a point especially on the pitch.
@5mudger@treeandcrown Lauren is literally a performance analyst, we get retainer time from analysts every month. It might not have amounted to much so far but it’s definitely happening.
Match day experience is still not fantastic but it’s getting better baring in mind our current infrastructure.
@treeandcrown@5mudger If we’re listing them 1-10, with the first being playing expansive attacking football and the last being working with warriors, I’d say we’ve done; 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10.
Could argue 4; we tried to build towards the championship by signing Lowe, and he said he’d play attacking ball.
@5mudger@treeandcrown Do you go to parties and spend your time wishing death on people? Sounds like a party I’d avoid tbh.
This is a pointless discussion. I’m not going to waste any more time on it.
@5mudger@treeandcrown Wishing death on our owners when they saved us from administration and pumped (if I remember correctly) 20-odd mill into our debts?
Where do you think we’ll find this elusive Wigan fan billionaire that’ll have us challenging?
Strange that.
@5mudger@treeandcrown So what do you realistically want to happen? Would you rather we didn’t exist? Danson has cleared millions in debt.
And exactly. Someone’s interested in buying the club, with the stadium, for a reasonable fee, then he says okay here’s the club and the stadium. Easy. No worries.
@5mudger@treeandcrown Also, no, it isn’t a club asset any more so they would have to be dealings with two separate entities, however, if a prospective owner came to the table and asked to buy the club and the ground then I’m sure Danson would play ball.
@Dec_1932@AlanBartle12@Me11o89 Nope, as far as I understand, manager asks for a certain type of player/specific player. DoF and recruitment team go away and find that calibre, put together a list based on profile. Manager then chooses or doesn’t choose from that list. DoF and recruitment then negotiate.
@treeandcrown@5mudger Surely that’s a remit that every club in the country aspires to? Doesn’t mean they’re actually going for it and it’s been pretty evident since day one they’re not going to over-spend to do so.
@AlanDan75195189@Me11o89 I spoke to Sarah Guilfoyle who told me that as far as she knows, if someone came in for the club, the stadium would be on the table as part of any deal.
@AlanBartle12@Me11o89 Well your point is moot then isn’t it? The manager chooses the players. The director of football and back room staff facilitate the transfers.
