Clark et al @GaryHoLab and @BWHNeurology, in a model of human cortical neurons, uncover a highly specific upregulation of vGlut2 in response to certain @Parkinsons disease associated toxins. This has important implications for @Parkinsons@dementia

I am proud to share recent work by my talented research assistants, Andrew and Karis, just published in @Nature_NPJ#Parkinsons. https://t.co/z0g2pjZhEi [1/5]
@Nature_NPJ Importantly, by probing for specific vesicle or surface markers, this easily adopted method can be used to simultaneously measure synaptic cycling in different neuronal types (e.g. glutamatergic, GABAergic) in co-cultures. We hope to take advantage of this in future studies.[end]
@Nature_NPJ After characterizing the method in detail, we showed that synaptic vesicle cycling is inhibited by synuclein triplication under both stimulated and spontaneous conditions. [4/5]
