Politicians will continue to underinvest in defence while the public simply don’t feel the sense of the threat. They aren’t ready for the trade offs required. We have to have a national conversation on national security and, fundamentally, resilience has to be at the heart.
John Healey would be a great loss for the government and the need to invest rapidly in rearmament. Even now I hope against hope perhaps that his resignation is refused and that the government doubles down on the vital Defence Investment Plan.
This is courage on behalf of the Dept, the Armed Forces and the British people. We are committed to 3.5% and we can't trace a path to 3? Amid two shooting wars? We need an immediate change of course.
The world has changed. More dangerous, more uncertain.
That’s why we’re stepping up cooperation with our closest partners and there are no two countries closer in mindset and values than Australia and the UK.
Defence investment should unashamedly back British jobs and British industry.
Today I told @GMB_union Congress we will go further than any government has to deliver that https://t.co/8Xb3ffh54x

D-Day commemoration, Omaha Beach, June 6 2024
Zelensky arrived, the crowd applauded. And then this happened:
🇺🇸 veteran: You’re a saviour of the people
Zelensky: No, no, you saved Europe
🇺🇸 veteran: My hero
Zelensky: No, you are our hero

82 years ago, 14,000 Canadians landed on Juno Beach, many of whom would never come home.
On the anniversary of D-Day, we pause to honour those who served and sacrificed. We remember that our rights, our freedoms, and our way of life were fought for and were won by those who answered the call.
It was an honour to meet our surviving veterans at the British Normandy Memorial on D-Day.
Their courage changed the course of history and helped secure the peace for generations.
We recognise our responsibility today to safeguard their legacy and the freedoms they fought for.
In a corner of parliament at the far end of the Royal gallery a box lies permantly open containing sand from all five Normandy beaches -a reminder to both houses of the sacrifice & the cause of freedom fought for by brave service people on DDay June 6 th 1944. #DDay
MI5 and Five Eyes have exposed the tactics China use to secure sensitive information.
I urge all govt and military personnel to read the NPSA advice and be vigilant.
We will never tolerate activity which threatens our national security.

The CPC's official history of itself does not even mention the date 4 June 1989. Let's honour the memory of those who fought for freedom and justice in China 👇🏽
Hitler’s top generals casually admitted to the Holocaust…
…while living in luxury in a British mansion, drinking gin and playing billiards.
Hidden microphones caught every word, including this chilling confession:
