@Capt_Fishpaste They absolutely wasted a lot of money last summer. But if you took the blinkers off for a moment you’d perhaps see that this was, in part, caused by PSR constraints, rather than being an indication that those constraints don’t exist
@SamJDean Well let me ask you this: has he ever blocked an overhead kick from the edge of his own box, with his head, and cleared the halfway line? #nufc
@LukeEdwardsTele@TeleFootball I think they need to do everything in their power to hold onto him for one more season, with a promise to let him go for a modest fee (~£50-60m) next summer. That way he can help them through the current rebuild then leave them in a better place next year, with his head held high
@ToonTakeover_ Anyone who feels “anger” and “resentment” towards the club, and who is reaching “boiling point” over it, might benefit from getting off “here” for a little while
@FabrizioRomano@LukeEdwardsTele I think this ‘gotcha’ proves Luke’s point. A normal journalist will report from the outside based on sources/info that will sometimes be wrong. But if you’re part of the transfer process itself it’s far less likely you’ll be ‘wrong’. Some may say it’s morally questionable, though
1. Why would you want to sign someone who would rather be elsewhere? The club had enough of those last year
2. It’s 18th June. Plenty of time to move on to other targets
3. The World Cup is on! Just enjoy that and stop stressing about transfers

@Duzman11 Liverpool didn’t suddenly become interested. They’ll have scouted for months/years & he/his agent would know that. So it was in his interests to wait until they came in & not rush to sign for the first club that came in. The WC then gave him a good excuse to keep NUFC waiting
@90sfootball My first real World Cup so I have vivid memories of Baggio, Romario & Bebeto, Ray Houghton vs Italy, Stoichkov…
But the first player that came to mind when I saw this post was, randomly, Jorge Campos
@S0uthernGe0rdie I’ve seen lots of comments like this in response to this rumour (and it is just a rumour). I bet a lot of those posting responses like this one would have said the same about, eg, Morgan Rogers two years ago. And also that those same people would happily pay £80m+ for Rogers now
