True. I once offered to give an old (but reliable) car to someone I worked with when their car died. He was in a pinch, and I thought I was being nice. He was skeptical. Asked me if it had rust and declined the offer. Then he paid I think $2000-2500 to get his car fixed. I thought it was bizarre but realized he probably would have bought it if I sold it to him for a really good price.
