🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Nicolás Tagliafico opens up about Argentina's performance vs Spain in the World Cup Final:
“Our performance in the final was VERY POOR compared to our other matches, and nowhere near what we showed in 2022."
“Unfortunately, Spain completely OUTPLAYED us tactically.
“I think emotional, physical and mental exhaustion played a HUGE role."
“Spain are a team that press very high, take the ball away from you and dominate possession. That's exactly what we DON'T like."
“We are a team that likes to control the game with the ball. When we lose that control, we have to defend compactly, and we're NOT the best at that."
“Every misplaced pass gave Spain the ball back. They kept making us chase it, and eventually it became EXHAUSTING, both physically and mentally."
“We are NOT a team that is comfortable playing without the ball."
“We have to ADMIT that Spain played MUCH BETTER than us. We couldn't find our rhythm or the calmness to keep possession at ANY point during the match.”
This is incredible. 81-year-old Eric Clapton played the original electric version of “Layla” a few days ago after years of not performing it. What a treat!
I gotta imagine the audience at Crossroads is incredibly confused by What's Going Through Your Mind, a delightfully quirky Phishy song by Trey Anastasio that has yet to appear on an album, being the song that John Mayer hops on stage to play. This is bold and wonderful from Trey.
Elizabeth Holmes built a $9 billion company on a single rule. Nobody gets to look inside the machine. Investors wired her $945 million without ever seeing audited financials or a working blood test. Rupert Murdoch alone put in $125 million. Henry Kissinger sat on the board. When anyone asked to verify the device, the answer was trade secrets.
Which makes the title of her redemption film the darkest joke in it. You Can See Everything.
34 days before an 11 year prison sentence, she invited a camera crew to document her every move. And of every filmmaker alive, the one she let into her home was Nathan Fielder, a man who has spent 15 years proving that people perform for cameras and the performance is what gives them away. His method is sitting in silence until subjects fill it with things they shouldn't say. Media training is useless against that, because there's no question to deflect.
Why would she agree to it? Because believing she can win any room is the trait that built Theranos in the first place. The voice, the turtleneck, the unblinking stare. That persuasion machine worked on four star generals and secretaries of state, and she aimed it at the one interviewer built to wait it out.
Then the mechanism gets crueler. She reports to prison, where she can no longer speak for herself in any depth. The cameras keep rolling for three more years. Her husband gets the screen time. Control of her story slips outside her hands all over again, and other people fill the void.
The fraud ran on making sure nobody saw anything. The comeback was a bet on letting one man see everything. She lost the story both times.
👀 Lionel Messi has some words for MLS commissioner Don Garber.
Messi went over to Garber twice after the Campeones Cup trophy celebration and looked pretty animated while giving Garber an earful.

CESC FABREGAS IS THE MOST IMPRESSIVE MANAGER IN THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL NOW! 💫
Today, as the Ballon d’Or organizers announce the nominees, I just want to state one fact.
Lionel Messi spent almost four years in MLS, away from the highest level of European football, and still went to the World Cup and looked better than almost everyone. That tells you everything about his level. If you’re truly that good, you can perform anywhere, at any time. Messi has even continued producing at an elite level in MLS.
And honestly, calling Messi the greatest of all time still doesn’t do justice to how good this man actually is. Even when he was competing at the highest level in Europe, nobody was consistently close to him.
That’s why, when you build the pyramid of the greatest footballers ever, Messi stands alone at the top. Everyone else is fighting for second place.
Steve Kerr says Roger Federer taught his Warriors team the secret to sustained success wasn’t outworking everyone, it was building a life around your craft you never want to escape from
“I’ll tell you a great story about Roger Federer. We were playing in China with the Warriors in 2017. Roger was in Shanghai for the Masters tournament, so we invited him to come speak to the team.”
“Draymond Green asked him, ‘How do you sustain success? How have you managed to win majors 20 years after you first won one?’ Everyone was expecting him to say, ‘I work harder than everybody,’ the will, all the clichés.”
“Roger Federer says, ‘I get up every morning and I make breakfast for my kids. Then I take them to school and drop them off. Then I go practice tennis for about two hours, and I’ve figured out a really good routine where I don’t destroy my body, but I can get all the work in I need.”
“‘Then I go have lunch with my wife. In the evening, we cook dinner together. The kids are all home from school. We ask them about school. There’s so much joy in the house. We put them to bed, and then I put my head on the pillow and go, “Man, that was just a great day.” And I’ve been doing that for 20 years.’”
“And it was like, yes. That’s it. That’s the formula. That’s what leads to sustained success. He loves tennis. He loves his family. He loves life. It’s not outworking everybody and banging your head against the wall, ‘I’m going to be better than everybody.’ It’s allowing your natural talent to shine through with a work ethic, with a great family life, with perspective, with peace, with mindfulness.”
“It’s perspective. It’s joy. It’s passion. It’s mindfulness. It’s an awareness that we are truly lucky. To get the most out of ourselves, it’s our daily rituals and experiences and love and joy.”
