@LarryVanLoh1@Horns63@TexasFootball How good would that ‘74 team have been with a healthy Rosey at fullback, Earl at left halfback and Marty Akins at QB!
@LarryVanLoh1@Horns63@TexasFootball Injured knee in spring practice 1974 if I remember correctly. That’s why Earl ended up at fullback as an incoming freshman in ‘74 instead of halfback.
@thegridironwar And how great was his Michigan State team in 1966 with Webster at LB and Bubba Smith on the D line! One of the greatest teams that no one ever talks about!
@TheAstrosLocker I was there! Still carry my ticket stub in my wallet after 50 years! I got Larry to sign it for me several years later when he was an Astros broadcaster!
@Horns63 You’re welcome! Also my Dad took me to 1966 Bluebonnet Bowl in Rice Stadium. Beautiful December afternoon watching Horns shutout Ole Miss 19-0! UT was led by sophomore QB Super Bill Bradley and the great Chris Gilbert!
@TracesofTexas Saw Earl play in state high school championship game in Astrodome in 1973. Again in Rice Stadium in 1977 versus UH when he was on way to winning Heisman Trophy! Then several times with Oilers!
@BudsOilers Ken Houston also had 2 pick sixes that day! Unfortunately this was the last good win before the infamous back to back 1-13 seasons in 1972-73!
@MatthewNichol5 I listened to Wilson’s first no-hitter against the Braves in 1967 on the radio. Struck out Hank Aaron for last out. Then again in 1969 when he pitched his second against the Reds after Jim Maloney no-hit Astros previous night. Great pitcher awful tragedy.
@justin_hicken @HTXRep1 @Mitch_Harper BYU fans know what it’s like to lose in the Final Four! What? Never been to the Final Four? Well then, as Dave Chappelle would say, I guess y’all need to STFU!
