I'd been using the Notion and Obsidian web clippers for a while, but something was always missing (or I never figured out how to set them up right).
So I used @bot to help me build a browser extension that saves things exactly how I want them: a summary, key points, tags, and a link back to the original article, post, or video.

It's called Binder, and it's live on the Chrome Web Store (link below).

The summary, key points and tags are written by AI, using your own key or a local model.

A small, cheap model is all it needs (I'm using Grok-4.20-0309-non-reasoning), since summarizing isn't reasoning.

If you don't want to spend API credits, you can use Gemini for free or a small local model for free.

There's no server, no account and no tracking, and everything stays in your browser.

@tcballard Going to try your bot. Mine tried it several times but KVM was always crashing inside it. It found a workaround by running it as software emulation, but the boot takes 4 minutes and it's really slow to use. Thank you for this 🙂

Vi uma boa ideia para um @bot que procurava e pedia a remoção do número de telemóvel de listas de spam, mas era mais direccionado para os US.

Por isso resolvi fazer uma versão mais adaptada a Portugal. Em vez de apenas procurar o número de telemóvel, esta versão procura também o email (ou vários, se necessário).

Basicamente faz a pesquisa e pede para remover o número de telefone e/ou o email do utilizador das listas, apps de identificação de chamadas, bases B2B, data brokers e sites de pesquisa (Portugal, UE e globais) onde spammers e robocallers vão buscar dados; envia opt-outs e pedidos RGPD; trata das confirmações; reverifica todos os meses.

Encontrou com sucesso os meus dados em algumas listas, e enviou os pedidos para remoção.
Agora resta aguardar, ver se há resposta e se cumprem com os pedidos.

I've been eyeing this handle for more than 9 years, since I use it everywhere else.

Someone else created an account in January 2016, made 3 tweets in the span of 2 days, and then no more activity since then.

Now, thanks to @X & @Subscriptions, which added @XHandles to the premium plan (before it was only available with Premium+ and was more expensive), I managed to get it and finally my X handle matches all the other ones I have.

The first time I read something from you I think it was around February 2025, some article about “Trump-proof software” that just showed up on my Mastodon feed. Although I didn’t agree with everything, I thought it was pretty good writing and decided to follow you. I also remember the comments on Mastodon when you announced you were moving to substack and leave your ghost blog (which had a pretty awesome theme btw). The clues were all there, I’ve been noticing it for months, but that was the point I finally realized how toxic those “communities “ are. I didn’t follow you on substack at that time because I didn’t have a substack account, and because despite your articles always being consistent, some of what you were posting on Mastodon was way too political and ideological for my taste. A few weeks ago you showed up on my X’s For You timeline (I didn’t even know you had an X account ) and I decided to take a look at your profile and substack. The great writing was still there and the X posts were all informative or something challenging people to make an effort to think for themselves, instead of the ideological crap (sorry) you used to post on Mastodon.
I followed you here and subscribed to your substack, and to my surprise you followed me back here, although I don’t post a lot (I need to change that 😅).
All of this to say that I’m glad you came to your senses and decided to follow your instincts, and especially, being able to acknowledge that the path you were following wasn’t the right one for you, and probably for the people who follow you and love your writing.
