🇺🇳 🤝 🇲🇱 During our last working session with the World Food Programme (@WFP)'s #Mali country team, several areas of collaboration were discussed with a view to 2027. In an unstable international context, it is essential that we adapt our common position in order to respond to changes in global #humanitarian aid while preserving the best interests of the populations that benefit from our actions. This adaptation requires an integrated strategy that considers current and future challenges.
⭕️ One of our key priorities is the precise targeting of households vulnerable to food insecurity and strengthening our response to crises by empowering local populations. Our focus on community resilience reflects our commitment to providing sustainable support to affected populations beyond crises. We plan to collaborate with #AES countries to advocate for our cause within the #funding_partners, calibrating and optimizing our actions.

This food will sustain my family for some days while we evaluate the security situation back home in Kubumba –Alphonsine, mum of 8, recently displaced by violence in Nord Kivu
@WFP has reached 6⃣5⃣0⃣0⃣0⃣ families in Nyiragongo w/ lifesaving food in the last week

This is the price of conflict & climate change. There's a terrible human cost that leaves millions of people displaced, hungry and lacking hope.
Don't look away! The people of Congo🇨🇩need our commitment, now more than ever, to end conflict & address the climate crisis🌍 #COP27
Courage is smiling in the face of adversity!
In Kanyarucinya, I met inspiring people like Florence. A mother of 8, she told me that this evening would be the 1st proper meal she & her kids had eaten since they fled on foot a week ago. We can't turn a blind eye to this crisis!🇨🇩
Today, I saw 1st-hand the human devastation caused by conflict. In Kanyaruchina, near #Goma in eastern #DRC, over 70,000 have fled their homes. This is just one small town; there are more like it.
The world needs to wake up to the plight of the Congolese people 🇨🇩 #RDC#RDCongo
It's been an amazing two years for me as I performed the role of Global @WFP Spokesperson @UNGeneva.
Was fortunate to have spoken about some of the defining stories of our era. The position put simply, was an immense privilege. BUT this isn't a goodbye. I will be back...Someday
Hunger is a driver of forced displacement - and an outcome.
Today's #FoodCrisis is resulting in devastating levels of food insecurity, which is propelling displacement.

Émouvante cérémonie d’adieu au Directeur exécutif adjoint du PAM @WFP Amir Abdulla, après 31 années de dévouement et d’engagement au sein du #PAM, au service des populations ayant besoin d’assistance.
Many thanks dear Amir for your dedication and commitment 🇺🇳🇺🇳!
Thank you David Beasley @WFPChief for acknowledging this very significant agreement by @wto members. I’m proud that 164 members came together at #mc12 to agree to this important outcome for humanitarian purposes. Thank you for the great work you do for the poor and hungry.
Hunger Hotspots - @FAO and @WFP warn that acute food insecurity is likely to deteriorate further in 20 countries. Extreme deterioration of the situation in the #HornOfAfrica and #Sahel - urgent funding is required #AnticipatoryAction#HDPN@CILSSinfos @icpac_igad
The international community is once again responding too late with too little. This needs to change. Retweet this to raise awareness to your MPs and leaders.

Since #COVID19, the number of severely hungry people doubled to 276 million. Today’s humanitarian needs will seem minor compared to those in the future if we don't act now. Join @WFP to help create a world with #ZeroHunger ⬇️

"Despite warnings, the world is yet again failing to prevent an avoidable hunger crisis by responding too late with too little."
The provision of substantial and cross-sectoral funding would avert famine in the too many and dire food insecurity contexts. @WFP#NoMoreDelay .
Over a decade since the 2011 famine killed more than 260K people in Somalia; another famine is looming in East Africa. A report by Oxfam and @SavetheChildren
finds that despite all the warnings the global system is still acting too late: https://t.co/pWnjylQ0pq #NoMoreDelays
So true.
Despite donors’ generosity and increased funding from USD 6.2 billion to nearly 8 billion between 2016 and 2019, we are still falling far short of covering the most acute food security needs of affected people. @WFP@FAOemergencies@FSCluster
Food Security Cluster partners are acting for people living in famine like conditions and increasing #foodsecurity - Lack of timely support to farmers to cultivate their land and protect livestock will result in severe long term food insecurity. #GHO2022#AgricultureCan
