#Dengue is no longer a sporadic threat confined to the tropics. More than half the world's population live in areas at risk.
Reversing this trend demands urgent and coordinated action. That means:
- stronger surveillance for early detection;
- investing in innovative vector control strategies;
- equitable access to vaccines and care.
@WHO is committed to supporting countries reduce the risk posed by dengue.
4/ The connection between #Adaptation and #Health was also in focus.
A @GCHAlliance press panel stressed that adaptation finance was also about strengthening health systems, preventing disease, protecting livelihoods and helping communities withstand climate impacts.

⁉️"Why do tuberculosis and malaria inspire global action while millions of deaths from pollution and toxic chemicals are accepted as the cost of modern life?"
👉 A great article about "the preventable deaths we have learned to tolerate"

El Niño confirmation: @WMO has confirmed the onset of El Niño, warning it could drive hotter temperatures and more extreme weather worldwide. It’s urgent that countries invest in early warning systems to help communities prepare. #Climate#ElNiño
A large Saharan dust plume has stretched across the Atlantic from the west coast of Africa towards the Americas. CAMS data shows that large parts of the Caribbean are most impacted.
El Niño conditions are expected to bring more heatwaves, droughts, floods & wildfire-linked air pollution in the months ahead, @WMO warns. With major implications for human health, food systems & emergency preparedness.

El Niño is arriving on our doorstep in the coming months with 90% certainty.
The world must treat it as the urgent climate warning it is.
The only effective response is #ClimateAction equal to the crisis – ending the addiction to fossil fuels, accelerating the shift to renewables, protecting the most vulnerable, and delivering early warning systems for all.
