If they are split then they wouldn’t be a focus group at all? Just lower attaining children?

@MrBoothY6 Why not just have the children seated anywhere in the class? Then you can circulate as normal and classmates can help out as needed. No specific zone of learned helplessness. Always found focus tables a bit counterproductive…

I hope, in time, we begin to consider “teaching” more as “coaching”. Teaching feels a little one-directional and the pastoral guidance aspect is rightly becoming a bigger part of the role. “Year 6 Coach” also sounds cool.

@StephenCox15 I was previously in the police. In my opinion, policing is a much tougher job. However, as you get to know a job the stresses become more real/deeper. The rewards of teaching are huge. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to help coach my classes.

@waltersnoot @WhistleblowingT Yep I can absolutely see why that might suit some people. Giving it a full year just gives you more “data” / experience to make a better decision.

@WhistleblowingT Suspend your judgement until the end of the academic year. Get your head down, focus on making connections with the children and by the time you look up in July you’ll be more efficient and confident. And it’ll be sunny.
