@DanielKral1 Economic theory says to heal a bubble you should funnel resources to other productive uses instead of let things idle. Ur narrative claims there are some other better productive uses than manufacturing. So what r they? Useless serivices like the us has?
@Trinhnomics I think what you mean to say is exports remain key to the paper growth. Real growth is change in welfare and productivity. Exports show productivity is very strong. Welfare metrics arent bad if you stop doing the linear equivalency between dollar consumption and welfare.
@KHerriage We might get deflation but obviously not for what ur thinking. The economy is very weak. Household budgets are breaking and they will cut back. The AI spending cant keep up bidding up the whole economy. Demand destruction is on the doorstep.
@elerianm This just says China still experiencing strong productivity gains and global consumers are increasing their welfare by substituting to china.
@EuroBriefing Sometimes the otherside is just better. VW making a few less mistakes doesn't change the calculus of who will be the most efficient producer. Its better that the EU moves on the find its real competitive advantages which is not advanced manufacturing.
@Suludnon@kyleichan Whether something is an attack or not, is subjective. Banning collaboration on a common good like scientific research is considered unethical by most moral standards. It is considered an attack by the norms of the modern international community.
@matthewstoller Right so why was only 1 country in the world able to do this? This is like me saying well Europe only got to the enlightenment first because they were in non stop war with each other. Astonishing feats are never achieved by simpleton ways.
@dunne_insights Think about it in terms of ppl's real life. A car is a purely discretionary expenditure for most Chinese. As the public infrastructure becomes ever more convenient there's just less need. And as ppl get more modern the status symbol aspect also diminishes.
@ryanl_hass U do notice that CNY exchange rate has fallen quite a bit from its highs. Thats all this nominal GDP change is showing you. So China's purchasing power externally has been mostly flat. It disguises the fact that its purchasing power internally still rose plenty.
@michaelxpettis Thats a big claim, that China simply sells things for a loss. That millions of ppl turn more economic resources into less at the scale that they do, year after year. This is what in economics we call "selling snake oil".
@RnaudBertrand This is no loss. Science to benefit humanity needs to be done in the right hands. Even a cancer cure in the hands of fizer might be a net negative for humanity. Better humanists pivot to China sooner than later.
@VisualCap@VoronoiApp This spending unfortunately only counts the nominal. It fails to account what % of real resources goes towards education and so isnt useful for predicting outcomes.
@HK_Vol1@JosephSomsel And ur opinion matters? Scs in the hands of Philippines is like giving a baby a machine gun. These thing will have to stay with the adults. Either China has it or us has it. No matter what happens its never gonna be in Philippine hands.
@HK_Vol1@JosephSomsel This flimsy conspiracy theory is what u call some effort to retake Vladivostok. Then why not all of Eastern Russia, the aboriginal ppls there could be claimed by anyone. SCS is a real thing with real investments in the billions. This is internet slop for $20.
@JosephSomsel@trmkbbck Go read the history or ask AI to read it for u. War is less frequent in the Chinese subcontinent but when started its escalation is rapid and scale can grow very large rapidly. This is not like europe where skirmishes can last 100s of yrs. Ppl's risk preference don't allow it
@JosephSomsel@trmkbbck Chinese will avoid a fight upto some threshold, then the will escalte 0 to 100 in an instant. War is viewed much more seriously and conservatively by Chinese. Not some toy to play posturing games with. So u better not play these dancing on cliff edge games with them.
