What can we do for students who are in a system that does not support their culture's methods of learning? My culture has lost its history to colonization. How can we educate like we did in the past if all history forgotten? https://t.co/rwMxL1MtWS #DecolonizePhilippines
@JerrodBondy I love learning about different learning spaces and how they can affect our students! What are some ways we should be mindful with teacher talk that we might not consider right away? #EDCI338
@TeacherKat8 Glad to see you got rid of the quiz. Great pedagogy! I loved your warm up activity too but is there a way you could avoid calling students out? #edci338
@Ms_Rachel_Moore I know theres something very intimidating about your thoughts being put out and possibly criticised by others! Especially still being in the program. Any good articles to share? #edci338
@noahforbes22 Noah I love the genuine inclusion of socio-constructivism. Thanks for sharing! How do you ensure all students voices are heard in small groups? #edci338
@raquellevy01 I just finished one and had to do some deep thinking! Were there any key take aways for you or did you notice any differences with countries? #EDCI338
It was great to take part in my first #edchat! I learned about considering what mistruths the curriculum has us teach, the disconnect between home and the classroom, and not letting my beliefs influence students but giving them the tools to find the truth themselves #edci338
@mrterborg@danacoledares@oldbay84 The government system and beliefs of political parties are taught. Same with religions around the world. That doesn't mean I tell my students who to vote for or what God to believe in.
I think there's been a misconception that educating students on hot topics means teaching them your own opinion. You aren't teaching/enforcing what to believe, you are teaching them how to find the truth for themselves. #edchat
@classroomtools@danacoledares @sgthomas1973 @tomwhitby@GeorgeLakoff This drives home the need for competency based curriculum not just content. It's important for our students to have the skills to discern the truth when new information arises. We wont be there to guide them forever. #edchat
@danacoledares@NA_Dellsey@oldbay84 @sgthomas1973 I wouldnt teach it as truth but I think its important for students to know there are some people who believe this false information rather than sweep it under the rug.
