Hi @Newsthink & @CindyPom Fascinating video you've made on John von Neumann, 'The Scientist Who Invented the Future'. I note your video, which has 166k views, bears some striking resemblances to a book I wrote about JVN called 'The Man from the Future' including, for instance, the title, the structure, the topics chosen, the explanations of his science, the choice of anecdotes, letters etc. as anyone who has read the book and seen your video will attest.
One doesn't 'stumble across' across a simple explanation of his contributions to ergodic theory, for instance. I know you're familiar with the book, as you mention it at 1:54 as a source for the diagram below. Great isn't it? I mocked it up out of my son's lego during lockdown, and sent the photo to @AllenLaneBooks who turned it into the diagram you've used.
As it happens, you've misrepresented what it means. It's not 'an explanation of set theory', it's a representation of the recursive relationship von Neumann used to "make the idea of Cantor’s ordinal numbers unambiguous and concrete". Getting these things right was important to me, which is why I quit my job, with the financial insecurity that entailed, and spent 2.5 years researching and writing the book.
But your debt to 'The Man from the Future' is much deeper than just this diagram (which you didn't ask permission to reproduce) and it's intellectually dishonest to not acknowledge the book further in your video. (The idea of von Neumann as the godfather of open source is mine, for instance--there's no other book or article that makes that point).
The absolute LEAST you should have done is link prominently in the description to the book (it's not), and mention it at the START and END of the video as the source--as any reputable media organisation would have done. Sadly, with the video having accrued the brunt of its views, it's a bit late for just that.
The pity of it is, if you'd have contacted me prior to making the video, asked for permission, and referenced my work properly, I would have been delighted. As it is, you've made me rather cross. Please contact me ASAP to discuss how you intend to compensate me for your breach of copyright.

This book finally exists! There were times when I thought it would never happen, but several people, including @RrrichardZach and Dirk Schlimm, gave me and Steve Awodey absolutely necessary help at crucial moments—thanks to them, and everyone else who helped us!

"It is my view that Heidegger’s philosophy of being is so transparently confused that no profound knowledge of his writings is a prerequisite for making judgments of the sort that paragraph contains." P. van Inwagen in an article on Heidegger-after reading 30 pages of H's work :(
