This new Global Health dialogue series will bring together world-renowned experts and stakeholders to tackle the most pressing global health challenges.
▪️Cancer does not stop for conflict. It does not wait for ceasefires. And for patients in places like Gaza, survival becomes a battle on two fronts.
▪️This is not politics. This is humanity. How you treat people going through cancer, war, displacement, and loss is a measure of our shared humanity.

▪️Every time I wanted to give up, I remembered that we created a generation of cancer survivors and patients in Gaza who deserve to have someone speak on their behalf.
▪️You are killing us. You are depriving us. We are hungry. We need clean water. We need medication. But you can't stop us from living.
▪️One night I was looking at the sky, asking God: Is this a dream, or was our past life the dream?"
In this episode of Global Health Dialogues @ghdwpd, Eman Shannan shares her personal experience as a cancer survivor, the realities of supporting patients in Gaza, the impact of war on cancer care, and her journey of resilience, loss, advocacy, and hope in the face of unimaginable challenges.

🔹 What does it mean to fight cancer in Gaza?
🔹 What happens to cancer patients when hospitals are bombed, treatment is interrupted, and healthcare systems collapse?
🔹 How do patients and families survive when war, displacement, and disease collide?
🔹 And what happens when the world watches, but not everyone speaks?
Our guest today, Eman Shannan, has lived this reality every single day.
In this episode of Global Health Dialogues @ghdwpd, Princess Dina sits down with Eman Shannan, cancer survivor, humanitarian leader, and founder of the Aid and Hope Program for Cancer Patients Care in Gaza.
From her own cancer diagnosis to decades of advocacy on behalf of patients in Gaza, Eman shares a deeply personal account of resilience, loss, displacement, and survival. She reflects on what it means to navigate cancer in a place where healthcare has long been constrained, and where conflict, the destruction of hospitals, and the collapse of essential services have pushed patients beyond the limits of endurance.
This is more than a conversation about cancer. It is a conversation about the human cost of war, and about the extraordinary courage of patients, families, and healthcare advocates who continue to fight for life and dignity against all odds.

“It's all very well... this amazing development in immunotherapy and promising results - that is if you can access it, right?
But what about accessibility for the 70% of cancer patients who literally die in Africa and other developing countries that don't even have yet the traditional treatments yet on hand? So the gap is widening.
We really should be striving also to find the common pathways for scalability, access and equity... Because precision without equity is not progress. It is privilege." HRH Princess Dina Mired

"If you had not only all the money in the world, Dr. Garo, and the power... How would you accelerate finding a cure for cancer and for all mankind? What would you do?" Princess Dina Mired
"It'd be very easy to do... because I would basically reform regulation, reform government policies. I would mandate that companies make compromises in terms of reducing their level of greed and allow for access anywhere in the world, for drugs that deserve to get to patients." Dr. Garo Armen

🔹 What if the most powerful weapon against cancer is already within us?
🔹 With the rise of immunotherapy, how can our own immune system be activated to fight cancer?
🔹 What happens when scientific breakthroughs move faster than the systems meant to deliver them?
🔹 And what happens when scientific breakthroughs outpace access, equity, and public understanding?
Princess Dina sits down with Dr. Garo Armen, Chairman and CEO of Agenus @Agenus_bio, to explore the promise and limits of immunotherapy. But beyond the science, this conversation confronts a critical question: Why do life-saving innovations often take years—sometimes decades—to reach the patients who need them most?
Together, they examine how regulatory complexity, bureaucratic processes, and fragmented health systems can unintentionally delay access to new treatments—turning scientific progress into a slower, uneven reality for patients around the world.
Their conversation covers:
🔹 How immunottherapy is the next frontier for curing cancer
🔹 Why cancer is not one disease - and why no single cure exists
🔹 Breakthrough cases where patients once considered incurable are now disease-free
🔹 The truth behind viral claims - cancer vaccines, miracle cures, and misinformation
🔹 Why progress in cancer treatment is only “50% of the way there”
🔹 How regulation and bureaucracy can delay patient access to life-saving therapies
🔹 The need to balance speed, safety, and responsibility in bringing treatments to market The
🔹 widening gap between innovation and access across the world
🔹 Why “precision without equity is not progress - it is privilege”
A powerful conversation at the intersection of science, truth, and justice.

No IARC Monographs. No independent, neutral, evidence-based research on carcinogens.
Who decides what causes cancer, scientists or industry?
The IARC Monographs are one of the last safeguards telling us what causes cancer, free from industry influence. What happens if that voice disappears?
In this episode, Princess Dina Mired and Dr. Elisabete Weiderpass explain why the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) @IARCWHO Monographs remain the only truly independent, evidence-based scientific research - free from industry influence - to inform the public about substances that may be carcinogenic to humans. Without IARC’s science, the narrative risks being shaped by those with the loudest voices, not the strongest evidence.
Without the Monographs, Who would you trust to tell you what causes cancer?
A powerful conversation on why independent evidence on cancer causes is not optional, it’s essential.
This conversation might change how you see global health forever.

What if we could prevent half of all cancers — but choose not to? Why is the world’s most powerful cancer prevention science still not reaching the public? And why is IARC- the world’s most trusted cancer research agency still one of its best-kept secrets?
Princess Dina sits with Dr. Elisabete Weiderpass of the International Agency for Research on Cancer to unpack the science, the politics, and the missed opportunities in global cancer prevention.
Their conversation covers:
🔹 Why cancer registries are the foundation of national cancer strategies
🔹 The critical gap in data systems across low- and middle-income countries
🔹 “No data, no policy” - why evidence must guide decisions
🔹 The global push for cancer prevention and why it’s still undervalued
🔹 Tobacco, infections, and lifestyle risks as the biggest drivers of cancer
🔹 The role of IARC monographs in identifying cancer-causing substances
