@I506197499@MetalcoreMagpie In 70 years the migrants of today will have had children and grandchildren who were born in this country, the same as me and my mum and will be more Aussie than anything, but with hints of other cultures that have made this country great.
That IS the Aussie culture…
@KRUDLER62@1116sen This is the cost of forcing a player to stay… 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
It’s all fine to stand firm, but denying the reality that some players want to leave means watching an asset and star turn into a shell..
It’s inevitable 🙁
@ugly_fishy@Alexander4840@Heccles94 Understand, I’m not shilling for DEI as a concept, the starting point though on any solution is to at least acknowledge there is a problem.
BUT at the least, having minorities in roles successfully encourages more of the same, and more people to apply and consider it possible..
@ugly_fishy@Alexander4840@Heccles94 Sure, but the absence of a rule that encourages diversity will inevitably swing the pendulum more against people not traditionally viewed as ‘made for that job’..
These things don’t exist in a vacuum, and certainly not a world that’s selecting people on merit…
@ugly_fishy@Alexander4840@Heccles94 But of course the folk (likely) such as yourself assume that only whites are qualified, and these non white folk only get the job cause they’re non white…
The notion that racism didn’t already come into hiring is ludicrous..
@ugly_fishy@Alexander4840@Heccles94 Sure, which isn’t what actually happens…
What used to happen is exactly what you’ve described, however with white selections.
What now happens is you must consider other groups besides whites, during the process of which you likely should have hired a eligible non white person
@Alexander4840@Heccles94 It’s actually to remove the inherent racism that exists that tells people (like yourself presumably) that a white person is more likely to do X job well…
@benkenjack@gwilliams81@Jason He’s over a foot inside the three point line.
That’s not landing space, that’s an unnatural shooting action to draw a foul…
@Drezdenwiz@Aella_Girl I’m also not saying that every parent should abort, not at all, just that people suggesting it has a large impact aren’t overreacting.
@Drezdenwiz@Aella_Girl That’s great for your child and you, but youre not every parent and your child isn’t every child…
I’ve seen the effect on hundreds of parents, and as a parent I can guarantee that for the vast majority it’s a very different world…
@Drezdenwiz@Aella_Girl I’m talking moderate to severe but actually could be talking about the lower end of moderate.
That’s a large portion with a whole different set of needs. Also talking specifically about the life impact on parents.
They are completely different worlds..
@Drezdenwiz@Aella_Girl To compare the care levels of children with moderate to severe disabilities to those without is disengenuous at best…
Not even close to similar…
@eigenrobot@NotSoSmolBirb@PstafarianPrice@peskyblinker Maybe in the US it’s too loaded, but I’ve been asked and asked that question plenty, it’s just an interesting topic to consider, and all the implications..
I worked in the disability field so it added extra layers..
