@InDesign I'm seeing a bug in 18.0 that crashes the software if I use the Mac's system speech-to-text (double tap fn). This is a pretty significant accessibility issue!
@amfonte correction — your assumption is that there is no intent. again, that's dismissing the talents of the designers.
omg I owe you a beer for blowing up your mentions. if you're ever around Detroit, I got you.
@amfonte It’s not the speed (although you said this justifies fiverr), it’s the context. This isn’t some glorious design in favor of a brief with the chance for research and all that- it’s a sprint. The goal is to have something after 30 minutes. OF COURSE they’ll deploy instincts.
@amfonte The same was said about Paula Scher’s Citibank logo. You can call it plug and play or templated or biased, but that’s dismissing any skill these designers fostered through education and experience.
@amfonte Then be consistent with that critique. I expect to see your unilateral criticism of any design charette.
Personally, I'm thrilled when young designers are participating in the culture with peers. I see zero issues or harm with what's happening in this event.
@amfonte@TYPEFIGHT Sure, but context matters. They're not doing this on behalf of a client. Yes, they're trendy designs, but *especially* with web design, trends are serviced by metrics. MANY sites look like this.
We shouldn't be disregarding this skill because of how quickly they do it. It's fun.
@_tyoung@diklein You can make a boulevardier! Similar to an old fashioned, but bourbon, Campari (switch to aperol since you don’t like Campari) and sweet vermouth. SUPER easy and always great. Twist a citrus peel to be ✨extra fancy✨
Happy Snake Day to those who celebrate!

@DeliciousDL this is a good example of how harmful precedents by big tech can impact smaller industries. it's SUCH an issue and one that will likely go without any oversight.
@nickschwab@sleepjar part of it is understanding and appreciate the effort to even get a product to release, part of it feels like an investment into wanting the project to flourish.
i try to do it outside of design as much as possible, but it's so easy to fall in love with beautiful things 😂
@theChrisDo @deedlee_doo @jessicahelfand But alleviating the mental fatigue of financial hardship looks a lot like improving social conditions and infrastructure. My perspective is it's equal parts individual opportunity + structural, societal improvements
@theChrisDo @deedlee_doo Have you read @jessicahelfand's The Invention of Desire? This is obviously a TOUGH question. A designer's approach is accessible education, & like you said, opportunities. A wider perspective acknowledges it as a human issue, not to be solved by design alone.
