This BBC investigation is disturbing.

In one Ugandan town (Mityana), scammers are running fake dog shelters as a business. Yes. They injure dogs (or let them suffer), film them in pain, and post emotional videos begging for donations on GoFundMe, TikTok and Instagram.

The same dogs are rented out to multiple scammers. One dog had his legs broken and was used in hundreds of campaigns. Over USD 700,000 was raised. He still died in pain.

Many donors genuinely wanted to help, but compassion without due diligence can fuel cruelty. /2
