Btw don’t blame Dan Burn.
My point is that he’s naturally a more defensive player. Bringing him on made us less able to keep hold of the ball, and in the final minutes that was telling.
Instead of controlling possession, we invited pressure. In the end, that proved damning.
If you’re an England fan and you’re upset, you have every right to be. Your eyes didn’t deceive you.
Our team was better. We played better. We controlled the game. And we had them where we wanted them, right until we scored.
At that point, we sat back and invited pressure.
Did Tuchel overthink bringing Dan Burn on?
Argentina had barely crossed the ball all game, then we bring Burn on to deal with crosses… and still concede from one.
So what exactly did the change achieve?
Watch Spain at 1-0 last night. That’s courage. That’s bravery. And then watch England at 1-0. What’s the difference?
We are a better team than Argentina, I’ve no doubt in my mind. But we deserved to get beat in the end. In fact, it could have been 4-1.
Bringing on 3 defenders at 1-0 up. What message does that send? I wrote it in my Daily Mail column after the Mexico game. Until we understand that courage and bravery is controlling possession under pressure and not booting / heading it up the field 40 yards then this will always be the end result.
Uefa statement released on Folarin Balogun's ban being suspended. Very strong stuff. Some snippets.
"A minimum automatic suspension of one match following a red card is not a discretionary option and does not require the decision of a competent body to be enacted.

Worst transfer window in the history of the prem has led to this btw.
Wissa and Woltemade were panic buys.
And whoever signed off on Elanga needs their head examined.
