Africa Day 2025 🌍 | Celebrating Diaspora Power: Influence, Integration & Economic Mobility
On May 24 with the Global Africa Youth Dialogue, I joined and engaged with African Impact Initiatives, the Centre for African Studies at the University of Toronto and African communities based in Canada.
My intervention focused on shifting from dialogue to action by:
💡 Leveraging the power in diaspora’s engagement with development agendas across the continent- as a strategic asset to reshape capital, investment, culture & collaboration.
💡 Designing inclusive policies and investments rooted in diaspora lived experiences.
I reflected on Rwanda’s journey—where Inclusive policies and vision turned the diaspora into a vital partner in national rebirth, driving investment, mobilizing resources and expertise. Proving that when nations embrace their people, no matter how far, transformation follows.

« La RDC ne peut pas prétendre rechercher la paix tout en armant, en coordonnant et en utilisant des milices et des groupes armés, qui nourrissent l’insécurité, et prolongent les souffrances des civils. La priorité pour l’est de la RDC et pour la région des Grands Lacs est de construire une paix durable par la mise en œuvre des accords de paix, et non par des solutions militaires ou des accusations qui ne résistent pas à l’examen des faits. »

“Many promises have been made to Africa, which have never materialized into anything tangible. Is this unfair? Yes. But ultimately, as Africans, we must take responsibility before anyone else. No world leader, no matter how big the country, is going to save our continent from itself. Conversations like these should remind us that through collaboration, we can overcome all the obstacles ahead of us.” President Kagame addressing a plenary with African and French CEOs on Green Industrialisation and Energy Transition.
➡️In a few days, Kigali will once again welcome the Africa CEO Forum, one of the continent’s most important platforms for public-private dialogue, investment, and deal-making. This year’s theme, “The Scale Imperative: Why Africa Must Embrace Shared Ownership,” speaks directly to the moment Africa is in. Fragmented success is no longer enough.
To compete globally, we must build larger markets, stronger value chains, deeper pools of capital, and companies with the ambition and capacity to operate across borders. For Rwanda, hosting the Forum reflects our ambition to serve as a gateway for investment, logistics, services, and innovation, the destination connecting global capital with African opportunity, and helping turn dialogue into action.
We look forward to welcoming business leaders, investors, policymakers, and partners from across Africa and the world to Kigali on 14–15 May.
